Looking to maybe get into this with a friend, how does it play and feel? I am used to 40K, I am guessing it is massively different?

Can you tell me all about it please?

I really like Infinity a great deal and while I think all aspects of it are very good it really is the activation system that makes it great and sets it apart from the other games, especially WH40K. Firstly, it is a skirmish game using some where between 5 and 15 models, on a table using twice as much terrain.

The active player will select a model and begin to determine the orders it will follow but at the same time the opponent may make small reactions with any model that can see the active model, thus both players are always busy and always involved in the game. For me, this is the best table top game I have ever played. Additionally, skills, equipment and abilities are varied and extensive so that the same rosters on the same table will still have a different feel.

I totally agree with you Apostate. I'm an very old 40K player and I never seen something like this game, you always can do something, never get bored, and pay attention because ranges are a KILLER !!!

Hello.
I think that the best way to get into this game is by watching these videos. They explain the basic rules.

After watching this, just go to the website and choose the starter pack that has the best looking miniatures for you.

The basic infinity mechanics are slick and flow very nicely.

But this game is skirmish with a capitol S. A million special and weapon rules require alot of reading, and the books are poorly written.

The game is not an easy game to get into, expect to try and fail a few times before it sticks with you.

On the contrary, it was quite easy for me to learn....as other games need a different rule book for a different faction or army. If you have played fallout tactics, XCom, of Jagged Alliance....play airsoft ..or have served in the army or SWAT....you will be able to relate to this game easily as the game focuses on squad tactics.

If you also like animes such as Appleseed or Ghost in the Shell you will also like this game as it has sci-fi anime theme to it.
