Loose interest in projects

Just wondered if anybody else finds this. You\'re working great guns on some project or other and something comes along (not mini related) and you spend a chunk of time doing something else - decorating, computer project, work etc. Then you finally get some free time and just can\'t bear to pick up the project you\'d started all those weeks back, but you know that if you don\'t you\'ll never finish it, so end up watching dvd\'s or something different, as starting a new project would be admiting defeat. Months goes past and then you realise you\'ve not lifted a paintbrush and can\'t actually remember what you were working on, so you start a new project and the old one sits on a shelf somewhere forgotten...

Does this ring bells with anybody? Any tips on how to avoid the loss of interest (if painting in the gap isn\'t an option).

I combat this by having so many projects going at once that I can always switch to something different. Also watching historical dramas, films etc is a good way to get the inspiration flowing again.

I can\'t even get to the half-realized part. So many things I want to do, so little time to do them in.

That problem is EXACTLY why I don\'t involve myself in projects not directly tied to my hobby. I don\'t do house reno\'s, very little yard work, not one iota of self improvement etc.

Stick to that philosophy and nothing can get in the way of your hobby projects.

Happens to me all the time. I will be painting a mini and getting really in to it and then I will have to stop because of school. If I did not care so much for getting good grades I would keep painting. Since grades are important my poor mini will just sit on my table for 10 weeks waiting for the term to end so I will paint it again. Poor mini

But when I do have time to paint I try to complete one or two minis a week so that I can improve my technique.

for me i class myself as being lucky as most of my painting i get to do at work i have very nice boss\'es.
So as well as a great hobby I GET PAYED FOR IT AS WELL lol lol lol lol lol.

no they are not hiring, and all i do is is look after com\'s rooms so it is very boring so out of 12 hour shift i get about 6-7 hours painting lollollollollol

Still, that didnt stop me buying a 1/72 Revell Panther on my lunchbreak today (i had to! It looked so nice lol)

Word of warning - seriously - a friend of mine told me -
\"when your hobby becomes your job, time to find a new hobby\" . Having done a lot of art professionally, it is fun, but it\'s different and it\'s easy to lose the fun/inspiration that is pure when money isn\'t involved.

Art and or a hobby with no strings attached is a necessary thing for sanity.

I believe he means that he gets to bring his hobby TO work, and gets paid for the work, not the hobby. Been fortunate for a couple weeks this fall to do the same. Nothing quite like slapping paint on something while you wait for the computer to finish computin\'.

you got it in one pegaZus, i have never gor tyred of this hobby after 15 or so years. my manager has\'nt a problem with my hobby in work, this year im even painting his son\'s xmas present\'s, that\'s wat im working on now lol
