Blending with more water as advised now. I'm really proud of this dress (at least the skirt part) and don't want to start shadow/highlighting anything else because I know it won't go as well and take away from it lol Don't ask my why I put the grass on when I'm not done. It just sort of happened while I was procrastinating working on skin and hair.

Very nice! It looks like you solved your primer issue! What did you end up going with if you don't mind me asking?

Are there remnants of mold lines on the tops of the sleeves or is that part of the trim for the dress?

There was some Valspar white primer around here (bf's dad used it to prime a rocket he received for Father's Day) so we both primed a few with that. Love how much stronger the colors show on it, but I still want to find a good gray primer for darker things. Black makes it so hard for me to see details for some reason, so I've been dodging it.
And, yes, those are mold lines. I am ashamed of myself. They're only on the sleeves so I may file them out then use brush on primer to re-prep. I will probably just paint her dress sleeveless if I do because I'm awful at mixing to match something and I'm pretty happy with that skirt so I don't want to repaint that. The skin hasn't been shaded yet and the base coat isn't a mixed shade, so that would be easiest..

Tamiya primer comes in Grey and White, its a very "eggshell" like finish (or at least the ones I tried were) and does reward careful work.
But automotive grey primer does work just as well. Lets face it for older painters like me (pre-GW) there was only automotive primer to use on metal figures.
I've said in other threads that I also use Vallejo Airbrush paint Grey Primer as as Brush on primer and find it sometimes better than a spray can.

I've been super busy with finding a new apt and trying (unsuccessfully) to make it to Reaper's ArtistCon, but in between things I've played with a few primers.
I really, really like Tamiya but so far have only found it in white at shops around here so I will have to order it online for gray. I ended up with some black Reaper brush on and it's not too bad. I've had a hard time finding details on minis with black spray, but paying attention while brushing it on seems to have eliminated that issue for me. I have yet to see Vallejo in a store around here, so I may order that to try out also.

Tamiya was AWOL from the States for awhile due to labeling issues, but I heard it might be back. It's tough to find in Texas on a good day and now that everyone went out of stock...well, just order it from www.scalehobbyist.com. That is the cheapest place I've ever found it and believe me I've searched and searched.

If all else fails, Duplicolor white and gray primers are very nice. They go on smooth and don't fill in detail like one would expect from an auto primer. I get mine from O'Reilly's but Autozone has it too.
