A friend of mine (who don\'t like seeing films in the theatre and is a great Tolkien fan) skipped watching the cinema versions of the film alltogether, bought the extended versions as soon as they were released, but waited seeing them until he had all three. Then, after waiting nearly three years since the first film had had premiere and not having seen a single scene from any of the films, he watched all three films in one go! That\'s rather impressing, I must say! :D

And did he like them after all that?

Yeah he did! Of course, like most Tolkien fans, he had objections to some things, but in general liked it. It must have been one hell of an experience seeing all three films at once and in the extended (and far better) versions without having seen anything before.

Excellent, I could not see them at the cinema either :( but I could not wait and got them as they came out and watched them so I\'ve got normal and extended versions.:D

Now we need the hobbit to be produced on film by jackson

I\'ve watched all three extended editions on my friends projector...so thats probably at least a 60\" screen...we\'re planning a few marathons, (Star Wars over two days, all alien and predator films, all superman films...the good ones)

But, I work at a cinema, and theres been talk of lotr marathon shown on one of our screens, with the digital projector...anyone fancy a 300\" screen? :D

The only marathon movie watching I did was ZOMBIE NIGHT!!!
Evildead 1&2 (before 3 had been released)
Night of the creeps (GREAT MOVIE!)
Dawn of the dead.

I felt like a bit of a zombie after that!

Still not done that.....although I keep meaning too.
Still one of the best bits for me in the whole LOTR movie parade was the Gollum sculpting special DVD with the really fancy extented edition of TTT, when it makes you feel good about your hobby :D:D

Want to watch Band of Brothers too......

And for nostalgia\'s sake I\'d love to watch The Flashing Blade again....\"you\'ve got to fight for what you want......\" lol

Krom.....I\'ll always like the 95th......

How much additional film is there with the extended lotr set? I\'ve been meaning to them for ages :)

Off the top of my head you are looking at about 20 minutes plus per film.

What made it for me with the extendeds though was the making of each, watching the making of Helms Deep and loads of Orcs doing the hacka to keep warm in the rain was just hilarious :D especially when you realise they kept part of it in the film because it looked so natural lol
