New category for GD Australia 2010
Looks very cool.

NEW CATEGORY: THE LOST DEMON (1989-1999 "Vintage" Citadel Miniatures)
This is OLD-SCHOOL! Any single human-sized Citadel miniature manufactured between 1989 & 1999, mounted on an appropriately sized gaming base (20-25mm round or square). This category includes Terminators (which can be "retro-fitted" to a 40mm round base) but other models supplied with 40mm and larger bases should be entered into a different category.

Old School !
Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

would be great if they did this at all GD's .... seemslike a strange move away from the current trend of marketability influencing GD results but a cool idea all the same....

mind you though did you aussies have citadel minis between 1988 and 1999 ..............;-)
should b bonus points for anyone who actually bought the piece in a store over there and produces a receipt...

be interesting to see what comes out of it......

Yes I agree, it does seem an oddly non-commercial move. But I intend to have some fun with it while I have the chance.
Let me see......Zoats,.....Fimir,......Squats!

That sounds like excellent news, but seems a bit odd with GW's trend to streamline all the GD's categories and rules worldwide.

Let's hope it gets generalised ;).

maybe they decided to save money by digging out the moulds and re-releasing all the old stuff so are trying to create interest in em first

In Australia we have a few local categories that are in addition to the regular (streamlined world-wide categories). These local categories aren't eligible for the sword or regular demon trophies. The Lost Demon is one such category they are introducing next year for us in Australia.

Maybe if it generates enough buzz, other regional GDs may pick it up too?

Let's hope so. It worked that way when the Paintmaster category (pick a mini amongst a choice of 6 and paint it with it's original base and no conversions) that was tried in France was replicated in Spain in 2005 ... but the next year they decided to streamline things ...

@darklord : it was actually great painting the mini because at the time a few friends and me chose the same mini so it created a challenge in the challenge, and during the competition it was cool to be able to compare all the minis and only "judge" on the painting quality. I love conversions and original sculpts, but once in a while a "pure painting" competition can be a lot of fun.

Here were the winning minis in France :

And here were the ones in Spain :

PS : the full rules not only said that it had to have the original base, but also that basing material had to be simple (sand, grass, ...) and not have other miniatures.

I'm with Ritual here, You can't use older minis for other GD entries? I guess it makes sense with them wanting to only use the minis that are currently in production, but I had never heard of an actual ruling on that.

The OZ GDs are a very different beast to the other countries though, so whether this becomes something to worry/love (you decide!) is most probably up in the air.

Anyhoo, Vic - when are you going to do one of two things (please!)...

a)Paint some more wonderfully pretty minis and post them up?

b)Release Labyrintus to the world. Well, I say world but I'd be happy if you just did one, and I could have it ;) . Sigh, each time I go over to you site I live in hope there's an update, but it never happens :(

Oh well :) I can dream can't I?

Good on 'em.

Would be great for this to become at least a semi-regular addition to GDs so we get to see some old stuff with A+ paint jobs on them every once in a while.

:good:
