Lotr Dúnedain Army

Hi.
I got an idea for a Lotr army I dont think exists. It is the Dúnedain, aka Rangers of the North.

I will be using different kinds of rangers, both from Ithilien and the North, dunadans and other models that may look like they are from Arnor and Eriador.

I will probably also use some of the Aragorn minis, ranger-Faramir, Damrod, Halbarad, Cirion, Madril and maybe even convert some elves or Rohan minis.

What do you think of this idea?
I would like so get some opinions, and some suggestions for Dúnedain-like minis from the GW Lotr range i can use.

Thx, Mikkel.

Hi, mp!

What game are you going to use this army in?

edit: ...and why not look into other mini lines like Reaper, f.ex.?

The Dunedain were not an army as they were the remnants of the men of Westernesse and few of them reamined about the time of the War of the Ring. Aragorn was one of them. Ithilien rangers were Gondorians from Minas Tirith of which Faramir was their captain, though there is nothing to stop you from fielding them as an army in LOTR it would not be correct. Only a few went with Aragorn to the Dimholt and on through to ambush the Black Ships with the Dead Men of Dunharrow. Halbarad was their Captain who followed Aragorn with about a dozen Rangers and also Elladan and Elrohir (Elronds Sons) and they bore the Standard of the King which was to be unfirled at his coming to retake the throne of Gondor.

If you want a unique army, maybe you could do an army of the wild men - the ones the Rohirim hunted into the woods but who aided the Rohirim in a shortcut to Galaden Fields.

I know pretty much all the facts (read the book quite a few times), and I know that an dunedain army would be impossible according to the book. But i have allways been facinated by the dunedain, maybe because you dont hear much from them (both books and films), and they are all so über that i think it would be cool to have an army of them.

Concerning the Ithilien Rangers, I did\'nt mean to field them as gondorians, just as replacements for dunedain (as it is very few dunedain models from gw).
All the other models i mentioned would also be stand-in models for dunedain.

Another theory can be that this is in the fourth age, when aragorn is made king, and the numenorean kingdoms is united.
And it would be kinda cool to have Aragorns son, Eldarion, to lead the army:D

I am working on a Ranger army at the moment for the LOTR UK GT 2008. Its mostly using Rangers of Arnor and Rangers of the north.

wouldnt you really just want to use the list for the Grey Company.
i mean yeah faramir et all are cool figs, but not dunedan (at least not northern dunadan)
they are all archers, they have the guys you mention that are actually from the north, AND elladan and elrohir.
AND you can actually use it when you play the LOTR game. i have noticed those guys at GW are kind of particular about not using \"regulation\" stuff.
just a thought, i mean if you are going to use them in a store for a competition or something they wont let you in if you just make up an army, especially one that has all those conflicting characters
