Lurkers?

How many lurkers (people who watch the forums but dont post) do you think we have? It seems like we have quite a few, as I\'ll often check in to see something like 47 views but no reply on a new thread. Well come on all of you out of the darkness for a headcount!:p

Oh also, how many of you started off as lurkers?

Last time I looked (this morning) there were 1100+ Artists but about 6000+ registered people on the Forums.
When you look at the stats for the % of votes most figures only get voted on by about 30% of the viewers. Weird!

i hate lurkers, you gotta have observers with your zealots or just use all air but that is soooo boring! i hate the fact that now every race has a base cloakable unit. pure balanced crap.

on a related note i can probably explain some of the lurker syndrome since i was exactly that way. came here wanting pics of minis, fantasy inspiration, was here for months without even a account, finally got a account for fun, i would read the forums for fun and find out about all these new gaming systems i had never heard of like rackham and..... well just mainly rackham i guess.

anyway i would read through the latest comments on forums and one day felt compelled to say something and then from then on i kinda posted here and there. so i was here a couple months, then after i did sign up i just read forum comments for a month or so, then when i felt like saying something i finally did. its just a matter of getting sucked in and wanting to participate on some level.

blizzards old starcraft game, lurkers are a burowing alien unit (think tyranids cuz thats where blizzard got it from) that ripples out a spike line attack, while there underground doing it, they cant be seen unless you bring a unti that can scan/see cloaked units. so when rushing into a alien zerg base one must beware these lurkers by bringing a scanning unit of sorts so your melee can sort them out right quick. sorry, its a decent game but its really the only game i play once in a while on me old machine. ive pretty much stopped playing video games....... wierd....

when i saw the post about lurkers it sprang to mind in a quirky way.....

hmm, yes, that first comment of yours seems a bit off...

I lurked a bit. For a long time I only heard of the forums through the main front page, and every so often would make a little comment on a topic. Then my friend introduced me to some forums, and I decided to get into the CMON one. I have to say this is my favorite, there\'s such a good group of people. A lot of older, more mature people which is nice too.

Well maybe not so mature :moon:

Ha, I started off a lurker, and I think at heart I\'m still a lurker.....I think I lurked fer about...mmmm....3 months or so, then, quaking in my booties, I posted. That, my friends was the start of a legend.......;) Encouraged by the lack of hate-mail I was recieving, I started posting, albiet slowly. Then, like a boulder crushing everything in its path, my posting rate increased, and here I am today.

Heh. I don\'t tend to lurk much, its too much fun posting, but I think there must be a lot of people who never post in the forums.

Kat

I\'m pretty much a lurker. I mean I\'ll post a comment or reply when I can add something to the subject matter or help someone out but that\'s a rarity. So I usually just lurk. This site is great inspiration, pics and forum both.

I fall pretty much into the same category as QuietiManes.
I read here a lot but only post when I feel I can contribute, which is rarely enough :( ;)

Lurked for a bit, and then in the words of Speaker to Animals, I \"Screamed and Leaped\" - mostly on the General Discussion forums.

Once upon a time I was active in the forums. Not sure what happened, but, I have not even been online for a long time. Whatever, not like anyone cares about that. I am back, albeit a bit quieter.

I lurk therefore I am...

Lurking seems to have its merit. It is a good way for a new poster to get the feel of a forum before diving in.

I am not a very good lurker, as I always seem to have some inane comment to share (whether you like it or not!)lollol

Dr. Bob

but not THAT Dr. Bob
I lurked for almost a year before I tried posting any pics or posting on the forums.

Just a chicken I guess ...
