Yeah, for all the things the Mac does well it sure can act funky at times. There is also a universal attitude among the mac users I\'ve had to support that if the Mac dies when viewing some web page, then it must be the web page\'s fault. At least people have had enough bad PC experiences to even consider that it might be their machine and not the web site.

Man this is old (four years?) And while it\'s amusing I have to say that it\'s so SO misleading that it really raises my hackles.

Einion it may be old, but it still strikes home - I can\'t tell you the number of calls I take a day where I have to explain to a \"I use a Mac it\'s so much superior to a PC User\" that because of the way Apple holds things to their chest we don\'t support Apple products and probably never will. And having supported PC\'s and Mac\'s both in the past, I\'m sorry but a lot of the things he talks about I have seen happen.
Plus, I thought it was a hoot.

Comparing Mac\'s and PC\'s is like comparing a 4X4 truck with a little two seater economy car, they both get you from A to B, but in some areas the Truck excels and others the Economy car excels. It\'s a matter of choice and what you need.
For my needs (gaming, stepper motor control, AotoCAD) I prefer, and need a PC.
Plus like Finn said, I can build them to my specs and save a bundle.

My favorite thing to do when I was in college while I was working on our Macs and someone said how great Macs were and that they were so much better was to tell them to hit a three-key sequence. Crashed it immediately every time. \"I didn\'t think you could do that!\" was the common refrain.

i use both. no need to hate.
to be honest, though, the only problems i have EVER had withthe macs ive owned are compatibility issues (damn it mac, just make a stats program already)

In all seriousness I don\'t think any clued-up pundit would have tried to make that claim, so it\'s not quite the same thing.

I have it split partitioned with windows xp and mac os10. (60 gigs is windows, 60 mac)
I can choose which operating system to boot into. Best laptop ive ever owned. Period. Im a pc gamer, so im an avid fan of....Pcs. I build em my self and so on. But, i can say, the mac is impressive. As a commercial art major, i wouldnt change it.

Hmmmm, it seems that the PC vs. Mac debates never manage to separate the arguments. These days, Windows can run on Mac hardware, and Mac OS (being Linux now) will run other other-than-Mac hardware. Operating systems are now slutty enough not to care what they run on.

I\'ve used both for years. Couldn\'t care less which I use, but I\'ll take a PC over a Mac any day of the week these days for my own personal use. Macs are a rip off.

Okay that looked funny, rediculously you had to install Quicktime to view it, and to install quicktime you now have to install itunes, so forget it. If someone would be kind enough to link to a Youtube of that or something, I would be happy to laugh at it\'s wittyness.

They are expensive, yes. But then so is a high-end PC, unless you build yourself.
Comparing apples to apples (or should that be Apples to apples?) and ignoring issues like RAM (because you have to, to make it fair) if you want to get similar brute-force processing power you really have to pay to get it. And with a Mac you get the elegance of the OS, a fair assurance of reliability and little or none of the driver worries and incompatibility issues.
And then there\'s viruses, spyware and other forms of malware. Consideration of these is usually left out of the equation.

Cool, so it\'s a UNIX kernel then. Either way, my point remains: Mac vs. PC is not Mac OS vs Windows. In fact, you could probably load KDE under Mac OS.

Mac OS has always been my choice, been using it for 15 year or so now, and couldn\'t bear to switch to Windows.
Apple really does what it says on the tin (or box i suppose) it\'s a great all in one with preloaded software which can be used by any age or level of computer experience.
Windows IMO, is a bit more tricky to run. I\'v had mates in the past who ran Windows and they tended to need a bit of \'coding\' experience.
(I use coding in comma\'s because thats not really the word i\'m looking for, just there seemed to be a lot of typing out lines to make things install and work.) It might be different now with Longhorn, or whatever it was called, but I havn\'t used Windows since 2000 or ME (whichever was out after)
I just love the simplicity of my Mac, I literally plug and play like they say in the adverts, everything IMO just works, I\'v never once had a full system crash. O.K some applications freeze now and then and I get the beach ball, but all you have to do it quit that app. (Or in some cases reboot the finder, which still leaves everything else fine.
And that first add, what is that a G4 or G3 I can\'t quite remember, but it\'s probably running cheeta , or even OS9 and believe me since then the OS has went from strength to strength. And alot of Longhorns new stuff does look like it was copied from OSX.
As for Mac being more expensive, not really, especially when you start to strip down the spec\'s and software included. And dare I say it, Mac\'s just look cooler!
I used to be a bit of a die hard Mac defender but i\'v cooled down a bit now and it really is horses for courses. All the software I will ever need to use is available for OSX, and for gaming I have a console, though if I wished I could buy Longhorn and use Bootcamp, because Apple Mac\'s can install Window\'s now.
And as for compatibility, most files can be shared now no problems.
The only thing I think PC\'s trump Apple at is self customisation.

And Steve Job\'s only gets a $1 salary, I thought that was pretty cool!
