In preparation for my stall at Salute 2014 I am feverishly finishing all sorts of sculpts for casting. I aim to share a new and complete sculpt each Monday between now and the show! Let me begin with this creepy discarded soft toy, measuring 15mm long:

...sculpted using a Green Stuff/MagicSculp mix. Expect another update same time next week!

Very nice. I could never sculpt with greenstuff. It has never liked me. I am impressed at how small it is and the fur detail. Can't wait to see what's next and wish I could get out sculpts as fast as you are. What show are you talking about by the way.

Thanks Digganob! I'm glad that you like it. In April I will be attending the Salute convention at the Excel Centre in London Docklands. It should be an exciting day as I will be sharing a stall with some great people (Infamy, Warploque, Arcworlde, White Dragon and Twilight Miniatures) and will have plenty of sculpts and casts to show.

Very nice. I could never sculpt with greenstuff. It has never liked me.

You'd be surprised! Stick with it and perhaps try mixing a little MagicSculp with your Green Stuff. It makes it easier to smooth with water. Work in small stages too, building up form and details. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the advice. I will give it a go with the magicsculpt.

The more MagicSculp you add the easier it will smooth with water. Try a 50/50 mix for larger areas. Try adding just a tiny amount for detail work. It makes the putty quite soft to begin with but as it cures it'll firm up and you can sculpt quite good edges to things. I always come back to refine surfaces and details as the putty cures.

Yeah, now I just need to find some magic sculpt and I will be set. I have not been sculpting long. In fact I have only sculpted one thing in my life and that is (Squish and Squash), which I posted on here. My next project I am working on is Chuckles which I will be posting more of in my next WIP post probably tomorrow. I have been working in Chevant medium clay which is a lot of fun but dam if I can't smooth out my details in the clay.

Nice sculpt! I bought my MS from their website and found the price and service pretty good. If you search YouTube for Warploque, Alex Huntley has a series of videos which include a sculpting tutorial. He shows how to work with a GS/MS mix. In these early videos it's quite basic stuff but I found it to be pretty valuable viewing!

Mad Clown Mondays - Update 2:

This creepy little puppet measures just 18mm to the eyes. He likes to hang around with the Puppet Monster, for protection, but sometimes wanders off on his own to smash things up!

Thanks! If any of you guys do want a Puppet Monster (or indeed a Creepy Mouth Monster or Crawler) cast then please message me! :jump:
In all honesty I would love one of those monsters but my current reality is I'm broke. :( How much do you charge for them?

Sorry to hear that Digga'

To answer your question, Puppet Monster casts are £12+ postage (currently £3 in the UK and £3.50 overseas). Price includes a 50mm round lipped base - he's a big chap! There are currently 21 casts (of 30) left and I can't imagine me ordering any more this year. :clown:

[Edit] For anybody wondering what on Earth this "Puppet Monster" is, see here:

Mad Clown Mondays update 3: The Faceless

This sculpt is the first of three depicting a new monster: The Faceless. Measuring 32mm and sculpted from a green stuff / MagicSculp mix, I'm looking forward to seeing this guy cast! Although his green doesn't photograph too well, there are all kinds of creepy details on here that will make him a lot of fun to paint (shoe laces, finger nails, spine...).

Here are photos from three different angles. The next two Faceless will follow in future updates...

Thanks Digga'!

Mad Clown Mondays: Update 4

My second malevolent puppet, this creepy guy is the ring leader. He measures just 18mm to the eyes and I'm particularly fond of his little zip!

Thanks Digga!

Mad Clown Mondays: Update 5

Here is my second sculpt depicting "The Faceless". This shambling creature is most animated, but is it howling with rage, recoiling from a bullet wound or in the process of mutating into something even more terrible???

Mad Clown Mondays: Update 6

My third mischievous puppet, this character has something of a disliking for stuffed animals... He measures just 18mm to the eyes.

WOOHOO MAD CLOWN MONDAYS!!! I really hate clowns but you just make them so cool. Love seeing em each Monday. And this guys expression of "yeah I just killed a teddy bear" is very amusing.

Epic thread. The faceless is especially disturbing. I can imagine children would get scared as hell by seeing your miniatures. :p
