"Mad" Ivan - Riposte

So, just looking for a quick clarification. Can Ivan use Riposte against ranged attacks? The ability seems to allow it, but then shouldn't he be "Jedi" Ivan? In all seriousness though, it's odd that his Riposte can be at a greater range than any of his attacks.

Can you use his reaction (or Spectre's reaction) if they receive fatal damage?

Example: Spectre is currently at 2HP and 3 coins.

Ivan is at 3HP.

Ivan hits Spectre for 2DMG.

Can Spectre spend his coins with his reaction to KO Ivan in return?

Ivan's specifically states it cannot be used if he is KO'd.

Spectre's triggers whenever he suffers damage, period.
