She looks really nice. I love the anime stuff that isn't too over the top. I bet a nice coat of satin varnish would work really nice to smooth things out a bit. I really like the Golden Acrylics won but I am not sure if that is available to you. Maybe do a test patch first.

Having lots of space/surface helps you to understand/practice lots of things better. So now I really encourage you trying bigger scales, I did with Brünhilde and with this princess and I'm learning a lot with them both and with you all.
@ninja ArchArad: Will check that eye... do you mean the blackest part of it being a little bit blurry isn't it?
@bgcdazzler:Glad you like so far... I'm worriyng lots for that freehand can keep it out of my mind... but I want to continue with the lightining and shadowing of the textiles a little bit more.... Also I need to rehighlight a part of those because putting the upper body with the lower body parts made me aware that I had missplaced shadows on the left robes, so I need to correct them.
@Oistene:I started everything with the AB, but now I am just using brushes. I wet the surface with a n.2 brush without paint, then paint with pretty diluted paint and move pigment around till it seems correct. If you wait too much you can have circles of dryied paint, but you can correct them with brush and water if they are not super dry. I don't think I could do this on 28/32mm though.. I suppose I am somewhat glazing/wetblending/wetpainting xD ?? do not know, since nobody has teach me those techniques in person so I am just experimenting with things.

@Demihuman: Haven't seen that brand over here.... I can try vallejo matt/satin/gloss with the AB or "purity seal" from workshop, that's all I have for the moment. But scared of ruining things with the varnish and the AB.. I suppose working with a similiar psi than the primer would work, I don't want to dilute/thin varnish because it sounds risky to me atm.
This Saturday morning I am going to assist to the "XXXV Soldat de plom" contest at Girona city, will make a lot of pics for you all and share them at a specific thread to not clutter this one. I am not presenting anything (I lack miniatures to present atm lol ) and I want to check how is everything so maybe next year put something there and test my skills. There is going to be some workshops too and the jury will be: Alfonso Giraldez "Banshee", Antonio Zapatero, José Manuel Palomares "Big child" and "Volomir"
I will try to advance Momohime a little more between tomorrow night and Sunday, I will keep you all informed

I think she is talking about the black line being too thick on the left eye (my left looking at her) if that's not the problem I don't know what is as it looks really perfect and that tiny bit lining around the left eye to me can or cannot be fixed I feel it's insignificant.they look really perfect to my eyes.I also think the satin or gloss varnish on the eyes will have them appear even more realistic and be gate any minor flaws in the model..
Remeber this guy's no matter what you do if you magnify a model your going to see everything from tide marks ,to small unwanted microscopic paint strokes dust etc etc.
Wet painting -I believe is a medium of oilpaints.

Aighhhty yeah what made me think that is GW been getting a bad rap due to the quality in their monthly painted models (WHICH I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THOSE PAINT JOBS PERSONALLY) BUT ALOT OF THEM WHEN THEY HIT VISIONS ARE SHOES MUCH MUCH LARGER.got me thinking I wouldn't have otherwise noticed.
Btw get back to studying you ,this is o lyrics a forum for "lovers not making much of their lower lives!" LLololol. Just kidding,go get sister ,shelagh ...you better give em hell nothing less than an A+ without the bell curve....

I haven't been able to advance further, yesterday I went to Girona and assist to the "Soldat de plom" contest (just as a watcher) and I spent like 2 hours and a half taking pictures of wonderful minis!!! I have selected some 179 from more than 200 pictures and put them together in an album at flicker for you all to see. I just went nuts at the level of it oO'.... I opened a thread on the general forums for everyone to discuss and comment.
Later that night we (my wife and the rest of the family) celebrated our version of halloween (castanyada)which consists of having a home dinner in which we eat roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes, "panallets" (a dessert consisting of almond and sweetpotato sweets mixed with coconut, cherries, cofee, cocoa, pinenuts and some other fillings) and a sweet variety of wine called "moscatell".

Ok Time has come to give you a few shots of my work of this last days... too many posts without pics xD
I was a little scared to start drawing with a brush directly, so I had the idea of doing a mock up with a white colour pencil before starting with the brush, that way I felt way more confident. If for whatever reason you try this and do it with a normal (black graphite) pencil, it will shine through!! and you should be very careful when covering it. By the way I discovered later that you can erase colour pencil from the mini with a wet brush. So I did to make the drawings it a bit more subtle, you will see below.

The next session I was still scared of the freehand (looks that I am more coward than I thought xD ) so I did an experiment and tried to simulate some kind of patterned textile. So I put a base of sahara yellow (ochre) and Ardenes Sands (bone/ivory white) and then make random little dots with Citadel blue and red glazes on it, followed by a "glaze" of the previous mix, then dotted again with blue and red at different spots and subsequently glazed again with the whitey-yellow mix.

The black circles are what happens when you have a heavy mineralized tap water.... that "white foggy crystals" appear on the surface. You can delete them by brushing with a brush damped in distilled water! So problem solved ^^ <--- This issue I have never had it before (or at least I wasn't aware) and momohime's size made it evident to the eye...
Anyway after that I finally throw myself into the world of freehands....

Between all those steps also managed to put lights and shadows into the hair, refine shadows and lights from the main dress and also rework the water at the base. I was not happy with the water effects as they gave the base a "plastic look" rather than a wet look. But it was because of me being impatient and putting them on with just a base colour of caribbean blue (white-blue-green).
And finally this is were I am at now...

Oh wow! Great job my friend - way to go with that freehand! It looks absolutely amazing - and you know me well enough by now to know that I don't say that if I don't think it. I am so proud of you for getting over the "freehand freakouts" and with such style. :victory:
Did you use a watercolour pencil or just a regular colour pencil? Because I like the fact that you can see it on the darker colours and may try it out if I'm brave enough in the future.
Can't wait to see her all done.

The figure looks really good and I like the freehand design you got going on. That's a great tip with the colored pencils, that will come in handy for future busts I want to do.
Looking great! Yeah most sketches that are mad beforehand somehow have the ability to magically shine through. Not found a good technique, other than just start to paint with acrylics. Someone should invent a biro with sharp tip that works with thinned down acrylic....
