Thank you Mr. Krule, always happy to have you visiting the thread ;)

Yesterday afternoon/night I was able to finish Zazu, I had to restart the spear due to a NMM cooper fail xD I did not have the proper colours from Hairster's recipe and try to aproximate them with an app. but I do not own even the ones it suggested me, so I choose a too reddish brown and failed. So I stripped the spear using aribrush thinner and restart it over with different colours. This time I approximate the colours to ones from a Ben Komets video, having a much better result IMHO.

It also worked better because on the first attempt my highest lights were a bit missplaced also... so wrong colours, wrong light placement, sloppy paintwork because I wanted to have it done asap.... killer combo hahaha

Will try to post photo finish for you all later this afternoon.

That sounds like a nice title to achieve BAM! hahaha Still lots to learn though but thank you for the encouragement.

So here you have pictures of the first failed try on the NMM Cooper spear and then final shots. Also I wanted to incorporate a little bit more of green to go with his eyes so I did some sort of "Jade" Bracelets getting one of those famous triangles of colour. I also retake Maya's Pictures as well as kanga's and the last Arcadia that I painted.

I agree with Coyote, the nmm doesn't look bad at all. You've done awesome stuff with these chibi models.

Thank you both guys! My first try on that cooper was way too brown red so I repeated it going for a more "acid" look.

kind of a "déjà vu" moment...hahahahaha

I wanted to pass you all a Seth WIP, but instead of that I've been painting him and eventually finished him off xD I made some pictures during the process... will share with you below.
Seth is supposed to be a hero, so it's on the "good" side but being good it has a strong evil presence, I tried to minimise that, brightening the colours on his clothes a bit and trying to gave him not an evil gaze... Hope you like him... it is also my second OSL attempt. (Maya was first) I also tried to give the blue coat a bit of texture instead of going to the regular smooth.

Oh wow, this one is just awesome mate... I love the OSL, it is very well presented and placement is spot on... it’s a really great piece of work, with exceptional blending, fantastic job.

Thank you CC, I am just missing one hero from the base box (Johan), then I must finish the orcs (actually at 60%), the minotaur, Mr. Fangs and a couple of the bad cheeks and I will have finished this neverending story :silly!:. The fact is that I should have painted them faster, but since I used them for practising OSL, NMM, and different skin colours I ended on the slow side.

I also have uploaded some minis to the gallery, pls vote if you have a moment ^^

Ultra chin and his mates look really good...its all in the eyes for me on chibi minis and you have that absolutley nailed down.

I have seen some youtube videos of Miniac, I like his honest advice an approach to the hobby and I've just seen his yesterday video, and it includes an online competition (his first).

MINIAC MEAT GRINDER INFORMATION:
1. As stated in this video, there is 1 category. The category is SINGLE FIGURE, ANY GENRE. 95% of the figure must be under 50mm. If the tip of a dude's sword is sticking out, it's OK. If you're concerned about your entry comment below with a picture of your mini next to a ruler and I'll give you a yay or nay. Pick just about any 28mm scale mini and you should be golden. The plinth + the mini cannot be taller than 100m in total height. The base area cannot be greater than 75mm x 75mm or if a circle, greater than 75mm in diameter (yes I under stand that's not the same area, but if I asked you to calculate area, there'd be a riot on my hands).
2. Take a picture of your entry UNPAINTED with a piece of paper next to it that has written on it: "Miniac Meat Grinder 2018". If the mini is already assembled, and primed, that's OK. SAVE THIS PICTURE. Paint your miniature. Make an awesome base. Then, take a SINGLE PHOTO of your final paint job. Pick whatever angle you think is the sexiest. YOU NEED TO FINISH BY JUNE 30TH. 3. I will create an online gallery where anyone and everyone can vote on their favorite miniatures. Everyone's miniature will get into the online voting. The miniatures to receive the top 10 most votes will move onto the next stage. The 10 final contestants will submit MINIMUM four photos to me of each side of the miniature and anything else you want to show off.
4. A panel of 5 judges will rank your submission. They will judge on three categories. Technical Skill, and Artistic Skill. To read definitions of these two, see how Crystal Brush defines them: http://www.crystalbrush.com/judging-a... . We will be using these metrics. A final and additional category will be Basing Creativity, which is straightforward. Each category will be rated out of 10. All of the judges scores will be added up for all 3 categories and the highest rated entrants will win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies and bragging rights! Let the games begin!

It seems that judges will be: Sam Lenz, Andy Ward, Lan studio and Volomir
Have fun if you decide to join! I might be joining also but not 100% sure.

I don't think so CC, at least at the moment.

On the other hand, I've been painting on paper lately... specifically a couple of colour exercises, a colour wheel and a swatch palette. I shared the swatch pallet on Instagram the other day, must come here and do the same plus adding the colour wheel ASAP. It's the fuzz that copying pictures from mobile and then cropping them to size or editing them to make "collages" it's what is keeping me from doing it. LOL I am becoming more and more lazy with this things... making a picture with mobile then sharing on instagram is so easy and fast! xD

Also I am finally patronizing Ben Komets and Sergio Calvo at Patreon. Although I feel my technique is more close to the way that Ben paints (a bit of a years light projection though), I want to learn the way Sergio paints since it is really different and produces some colourfull and expressive pieces. Let's see how far this endures. ^^'

Betty Edwards colour exercises mentioned above

Colour wheels done with watercolour paper and a selection of six (Sol yellow, Aldebaran red, Antares red, Tesla blue/Mediterranean blue, Violet, Irati green) SC75 colours:

On the second try, I corrected a bit the gradations between yellow and red. Discovered that Mars Orange is a bit more desaturated than the mix of Aldebaran Red and Sol Yellow. I also changed the Tesla blue for the Mediterranean blue, so the colours at 7, 8 and 9 o'clock are a bit different on the second wheel and seem more in accordance to what the book says, although the mediterranean blue seems to have a bit of white in it.
Also discovered that Tesla blue is much more transparent than it seems, having problems to cover well the three types of paper on which I tried it.
Also tested by myself that the mix between violet and Aldebaran red produces a "muddy" violet-red, whilst the mix between Antares red and violet produces a bit nicer Violet-red, supposedly for the orange contents in the Aldebaran.

Before the colour wheels I had "fun" mixing 8 colours (Same as above plus mars orange and flat black) from the SC75 colour range and produced the following colour swatch chart, were the diagonal is the pure colour, the rows have 80% of their colour and the columns have 20% of their colour. So you can check the difference between 80%tesla blue and 20% sol yellow (1st column, 6th row) compared to 80% sol and 20% tesla blue (6th column, first row)
Pitty that I used a high weight SATIN paper that gave some very brushstrokes "problems" and not the nice watercolour paper that I used for the colour wheels :(
On the other hand the satin paper let me better evaluate the opacity of the colours. ^^'
