okie, I recently bought for myself a set of diamond files (dirt cheap...S$15 = US$8) and I seriously don\'t want these wonderful files to die on me...so, does anyone know the know-hows to maintain these files?

PS: Wow! I can\'t remember the last time that I posted something serious... :D

It has been a while mouse...

I use an old suede brush and sometimes a quick stab with a wire brush attached to my dremel. Real stubborn bits require picking out with a pin.

I use a torch on most of my wood carving bits on my dremel. I don\'t know if that would work on diamond files or bits though. May be worth looking into, because it\'s soooo much easier. I think anyway.

Hi Mouse,
One thing I noticed  when I got home with my new set of nail files was that they were treated with oil. Therefore every now and then I apply a little multipurpose oil to my files for good measure.

If anything it prevents your files from rusting and softens the gunge that builds up in \'em.

Real stubborn bits require picking out with a pin.
Quick Tip: take 1 long good steel pin, 1 knackered brush, remove ferule & damaged hairs. Mix small amount of green stuff. Mould around blunt end of pin and remainder of Brush.
Voila, one very sharp multi purpose cleaning, picking or sculpting tool.
Also not to forget it\'s other use stabbing you in the finger tip when your attention wanders.:] (BT.DT.GTT)
