Major Photoshop Problem!

Okay, so I usually joke about when I can\'t get the comics up. This is no joke.

I\'ve used Photoshop 7.0 with much success, but now every time I want a new document or try to paste into something, it locks up. I\'ve tried everything: restarted 20 times, ran a Virus scan, ran Windows scandisk, everything I could possibly think of. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how they solved it....

I have the ideas for the new strips ready, I just can\'t upload them until this is fixed! :flame:

Chrispy. You need to do a purge on your system. It sounds like the \"Scratch\" files are on the same drive as the program, not a good idea but if you\'ve only one Hard drive, watcha gonna do?.

You have two options; do a search for all temporary files : (*.tmp) and delete all those that start with a \'tilde\' ( ~) Once that is done do a second search for all CHK files (*.chk) and delete those as well.

Then after that do a \"Defrag\" of your hard disk. If you are still finding these problems then there is something amiss and you may need to un-install Photoshop. Then Defrag again and re-install.

Have you loaded any 3rd party add-ons to Photoshop/Illustrator? Some of these may be time limited, a problem I\'ve seen before, and the time limit may have expired without giving you a warning. (It happens!)

If no joy, PM me and I\'ll see what else I can think of.

my first port of call when a program goes south is to reinstall it.

after that you have to ask your self what have i done lately. any new programs? drivers? is there enough resourses? disk space and memory. have i defragged lately? cleaned the registry out?

have you updated the antivirus?

Solution= Real Networks Stupid!

Right, I figured out the problem on my own from the most unlikely source: Real Player. I uninstalled it because everytime I shut down I got a message saying \"Rnadmin Not Responding\" I searched for the file and saw it was in the Real folder, so I just uninstalled it. For some reason, it had never done this before, it just started thinking it wanted to slow me down for some reason. Anyways, my new advice: stop using their crap! It will interfere when you need to run a program!

The natural Order is restored.... :D

Well I would never have \'sussed\' that one out. Realplayer is not something that\'s ever given me a problem. Ah well everything is back to normal. (Well as normal as anything gets around here!)
