Making antlers

Ok heres the pitch. I\'m making a diorama and I need some antlers. I intend to recreate the scene in Robin of Sherwood when Robin first meets Herne the hunter. However I have no idea how to make Herne\'s antlers.

Should I just use bits of wire or scupt them on? Any advice would be greatly appereciated.

hmmm i\'d use some bits of wire to get the form. Twist 2 or 3 pieces of wire for each antler (not too tight), then unravel them at one end, and bend them apart and get the shape.

Then sculpt some GS around the wire. Antlers are thicker at the base where they meet the skull, so they\'d look funny if they were just wires.

i agree, and get some good reference pictures because it\'s important you get the right shape

If you find em too difficult to sculpt or anything, you can order some from GW components:

Antlers

or if you want some with a head attached... :]

Antlers with head

Good luck whatever you do, sounds like a nice diorama :)

Happy painting

Some of the Bretonnian Helms have antlers that may be OK for what you want. But sculpting them isnt a bad idea.

Remember to texture your antlers once sculpted - they tend not to be smooth like horns - try running the bristles of a brush lightly over them (All in one direction - in the direction of growth)
