making displa base advice please

hi,

i would love to make a large(ish) display base for LOTR models, i need them to be removable.

what i need help with is how do you make it so that the bases fit snug into the base and what do you make the base out of?

i did a quick search but came up with nothing, if anybody knows good tutorials or anything that will halp i would love to know

your help would be much appreciated

I\'d figure out how large it needs to be first. Then go to the local hobby shop/diy and find a basswood/poplar/etc base that fits the size I\'m looking for, then decide how I want to cover it - are you doing interior or exterior bases for the model?

While at the hobby shop I would also get a 1/2 in sheet of styrofoam, cut to fit the base and cut out the holes for the bases, cover with basing material to match, and bob\'s your uncle.
