I have submitted an article about making rocks. Posting it here as well.
Tim suggested I make up a tutorial on how I made my rocks. So here it is. I have done an arch formation - mainly just for the hell of it.
Using Fimo for the rock and two bits I broke off a fake log aquarium ornament.
Step 1. Shape the fimo into the basic shape you are after.
Step 2. Get your surfacing tools ready.
Step 3. Use one of the log pieces as a support and the other to press into the fimo to give it the rocky texture. Using the support stops you leaving fingerprints.
Keep going until you have covered the surface as required.
Then you bake it and then you paint it.
Here is a couple of painted examples.
The end.
