Hi folks, I have recently got into malifaux along with some of the guys over at Golem painting studio and have been having a lot of fun painting the fantastic miniatures Wyrd have produced. I started paint my Lucas mcabbe crew in a midnight theme as I thought the setting would suit the wayward gentlemen look of the crew. I decided to do a decent job of them painting wise, so far I have two miniatures painted for that crew as of yet, but I wanted to get some more miniatures painted quicker to get on the board and play some games, so I decided to stick with the midnight theme and simplify it for the rest of the guild faction.
I am personally rather chuffed with the result, mainly as it was one of the funnest painting experiences I have had so far in my hobby. It gave a great opportunity to explore a different style to what im used to and also to really think about composition of light and dark and also contrast between colour intensity, and contrast of detail.
so without any further waffling, here are the two original wastrels in my slightly more advanced midnight theme, its from these that I have based the style of the faction. Though I will continue to paint lucas's crew to this quality, mainly as I really enjoy painting dudes in suits.
PS, I hope the photos shrink down after posting, if not could someone advise how best to shrink them for this forum, thanks.
Once I decided how I was going to simplify the paint scheme while keeping the theme, I got some more bases from DCB miniatures. it was relatively straightforward putting it into practice, here is the result of that in my lucius crew which is one of my favorite sets of miniatures, I think its that aristocratic look lucius and the air of corruption of Captain Dashel that does it for me.
Thanks for reading and there will be more posts and pics of guild miniatures as i paint my way through the faction.
