A brief rant, but a rant none the less.
What the hell is with manufacturer\'s websites? Why do so many of them suck? I collect links to these things and look at a lot of them. In the 21st century the internet is basically a necessity of marketing to a cottage industry like figurines, but most of the ones that do have sites, and I strongly suspect that most don\'t, are either un-navigatable, ugly, or completely lacking in pictures. Hello? Who in their right mind trys to sell sculptures, even tiny ones meant to be used as game pieces, without pictures? Then of course there is the problem of folks trying to be too advanced. Like Gripping Beast. They formerly had a really crappy site, but have now switched to a flash intro. Nice, but I haven\'t got flash at school and I\'m not allowed to install anything on these terminals. What\'s the problem? In their zeal to be up to date they forgot to put in a link to bypass the intro.
And the Ugly sites. For crying out loud. I taught myself enough HTML to code a decent looking page just from free tutorials on the internet. Sure it loads with errors and is kind of plain, but it\'s there and easy to navigate. Took me a couple days to do it.
Back to pictures for a second. Not only are there not enough of them in most cases, they suck when they are there. Presumably people are buying them and presumably people are painting them. Why the hell can\'t they post some pics of the figures painted by a customer. I know it can be done, just see the Heresy site and a couple pics on the Excelsior site.
It\'s not like it should really cost them that much. There are enough computer geeks into miniatures that a trade could be worked out. Code for figures anybody? I\'d do it.
See I told you it would be brief.
