Damn PO\'s if they aren\'t striking , leaving packages in the rain for days on end or just losing stuff without trace they burn the buggers.. That sucks....knowing my luck the only thing to survive a PO blaze would be bills bills bills....

well hope you re do them and look forward to seeing the results.. maybe include a flame in their insignia somewhere now???

wow. those were really nice. especially love the dirty white and the weathering here and there. makes it more realistic than a plain old clean paint job.

btw, if i may ask, what is the recipe for the white? i\'ve been trying to achieve a color like that for a while, but i never seem to get it spot on. its either too yellowish or something else.

edit: omg!! i jus noticed the tiny blue flame on the flamer!! omg!!!

That\'s just awful on... so many levels. Condolences to you and the buyer, both.

For the ordinary marines it is:
Basecoat GW Foundation Khemri brown
shade with a wash of charadon granite
highlight with khemri + dheneb stone
highlight with pure dheneb stone
highlight with Vallejo Model Colour Ivory
In between the last stages some glazing with Graveyeard earth, codex grey and kommando khaki to smooth out transitions and make the colour more interesting.

The scratches was done with chaos black and then ivory or Vallejo Game Colour white as a sharp highlight under the scratch. I then added some snake bite leather on some places to represent dirty rust.

at least your dog didn\'t eat \'em...i actually had that happen with a finished commission...try explainin\' that to the customer!!!

it was a beautiful bunch of minis...look forward to seein\' the 2nd incarnation...

They were fantastic minis. Such a shame, but glad that can still see the pics, not much of a comfort for the client unfortunately.

You\'re insane! They look wicked though, it was probably some jealous figure painter at the post office who burst into flames when he saw them.

Wow. Too bad they got burned, the world lost a lot of beauty there.

I\'m a bit curious as to which colours you used for the red and the bronze/brass. And, heck, while I\'m at it I might as well ask how you made the skin on Sgt. Aberland.

Great work, I\'d love to be able to paint like that someday.

Stay in school. Exercise regularly. Eat your green veggies. Get plenty of rest. Sell soul to evil deity.

The red I use is a mix of red gore and scab red. I go from a very dark red (mix + chaos black) and highlight my way to pure red mix. I then add Vallejo Model Colour neutral grey on the edges and finish of with space wolf blue (I think I used Vallejo Pale blue-grey on Aberland though). I use glazes of the red mix to blend the grey and red together a bit. The red of the gun is pure red gore and chaos black.

The bronze is basecoat tin bitz which I shade with a little diluted chaos black. I then mix in shinging gold until pure shining gold and then add little mithril silver on the edges. Lastly I add a wash of Scaly green + Vallejo Game Colour Billious green as a subtle bronze patina.

Aberlands head was basecoated with VMC German camo black-brown. Shadows and defining lines was done with diluted chaosblack. The first highlight was germ. cam black brown + VMC pale flesh + red gore + a little smudge of goblin green. Highlight number two was more pale flesh. I then glazed with red gore and liche purple, especially around the scars. The final highlights was pale flesh again and IIRC with a little added VMC ivory. The last glaze was very diluted yellow (not sure which) that I added on the transition between dark and light.

The skin was very advanced, but looking at the result I guess it\'d have to be.

I\'m going to try these colours out on my World Eaters. I\'ve got 30-ish to paint, so no. 30 might even be bearable to look at with a little luck! ;)
