Marble statue

I\'m currently working on a display/carry base for my black templar kill team. It is 8x12 and is complete with an eldar jetbike carashed into some rubble(on fire), buildings, barbed wire, a dead soldier burried under some rubble, and a central road.(obviously im going for a wartorn city as my theme.)I want this to be an imperial city that the guard have failed to hold,and a passing black templar crusade has come down to aid.I have decided to add an empire spearman mounded on a pedistile as like, a sculpture peice in the city.I have modified him to look like maybe an old imperial men-at-arms type thing. I want him( the statue, and pedistile) to be painted as if he were a marble tribute to past warriors....if anyone can write me a tutorial, or give me some ideas..i\'d really appreciate it...thanks alot

Well, if you want the soldier to be marble I would try to do the same thing. However, if that doesn\'t work, you could always just paint the soldier as a bronze or other metallic statue, and leave him on a marble pedestal.

do the same thing only skip the white for the most part.. honestly id just bronze it as the scale would be off... you would have the marble pillar and the soldier with different \"grain\" tightness and scale. so personaly i would bronze ie.. i plan on painting a reaper gargoyle mini in much the same maner only purple to red and leaving out the white... wont have as much a marble effect but should look nice.. mihgt add white after still not sure

i found the picture of the marble im going to attempt in my gargoyle http://www.stonecarver.com/m/mar109b.jpg im simply going to black line the cracks then blend liche purple to red and more then likely leave out the white however on the wings theres some veins.. i may use some thined white lining on the veins so they show more apearant then if left alone and give it more depth. heres a link i was given when trying to decide a colour for the gargoyle *marks under favorites this time*

Basically white/off white, with subtle cream or grey shading and some darker veins if you want them. Then give it a subtle sheen and it should look just right.

If you want it to have been in place for a while you could age it a little with a little yellowing and water stains:

Also check for pics of Michelangelo\'s David (the one outside is more weathered than the one under cover).
