Marines and Boobies

As evidenced by the thread title, I am completely without shame. ^_^

Two new minis; one is a marine. I think I\'m getting the hang of toning down my weathering and chipping to a much more realistic state. The white on the folds of the banner is due to applying clear coat a little too thick.

I went for a very minimalistic approach on the banner. Moreso from having no idea what to paint on the banner that the folds wouldn\'t make difficult to do -- I\'d originally attempted a RahXephon style female Dolem face in the center, but eventually painted over this when the folds made highlighting too complicated.

Anyway, those inclined todo the voting thing can do so here.

And now: BOOBIES.

Yeah, well, I didn\'t claim they were GREAT boobies or anything, now did I? ;)

And yep, the metallics (especially on her sword) came out fairly bad. Something along the way made the metallics rough, but by then I\'d finished her skin and face and didn\'t want to start over. Beginning to wonder if maybe metallic paint can \"go bad\" since mine is a few years old.

Voters for this one may do so here.

I don\'t think I would have realised the banner wasn\'t just highlighted like that if you hadn\'t pointed it out.

Metallics definitely can go bad. I had some metallic gold paint that actually turned green from the metal flakes oxidizing.

The marine is better. Boobies Girl\'s metallics are dead dull. And I don\'t think they should be... she needs shiny kit to compete visually with the boobies ;)

She\'d need flashing neon lights and a car alarm to compete with the boobies...(and they\'d STILL lose!!)lol

The marine looks great as does the banner. I would have liked to see a chapter badge or unit markings on the shoulder pad but Its probably not nesesary. I would like to know how you do the lettering tho I have all sorts of problems with lettering.

The girly is nice but the metals let it down. They need some more attention you know what I mean.

You can tell the marine that I voted on the BOOBIES and I will not repent. lol

I also voted on the marine too.

Your title is one of the breast I\'ve seen in a while. Really grabbed my attention.

I have to concur with the rest of the opinions already posted. The marine is great with nothing really wrong. The woman is a bit bland. Mainly the metallics are boring. A little spiffying up for the madam.

Yeah, I tend to leave out the markings on most of the marines I paint. Just not familiar with that aspect of the 40K universe enough to do them justice, IMO. Mostly a tyranid player myself when I do play, which is rare these days.

As for the lettering, that at the top of the banner was done with a 10/0 spotter. After that, I said, \"Screw this\" and broke out a Micron Pigma pen. <g> This explains why the top banner \"repent\" is slightly thicker than the other lettering. Some of the \"holy parchment\" stuff is Micron, some is 10/0 spotter.

I tend to use Micron pens only for lettering and parchment writing, tiny touch ups (like inside an eye, where the paint on the tip of a brush would dry before you got it in place), and signing the bottom of bases. Used to use them for blacklining and eyes, but I tend to have better control with a brush for that.

The main thing to do with lettering is to plan out what you\'re going to write, then write it from the middle outwards toward either side. That way you end up with a centered word. For example, \"repent\" was started at \"pe.\"

And now, because I\'m totally immature, an unfortunate pairing of poses:

I have a little bit of experience with boobies... and I find this thread quite titillating...;)

It has inspired me to create a new conversion... a Marine WITH boobies. Brilliant.

You could find no better combination for a good score. Nothing seems to bring out the \"8\" in people like Space Marines and nudity.

The eyes on both figures look great. That sword contrasts greatly with rest of the paintjob.
