A new year, a new found love for painting minis, a fun challenge and several kickstarters either on the way, getting ready, or delivered.

That calls for a fresh start.

So with out further flapping of lips:

My Arena Rex Kickstarter package arrived today, and i have spent the last hour unpacking and oogling these glorious miniatures. The sculpting has to be seen to be believed. Amazing detail, superb mucsles and anatomy and wonderfull faces. Some of the deatil is so fine, that is boggles my mind to consider that they were all sculpted by hand, and not 3d software.

The casting is ace too, no breaks or warping any where (you here that FW, it can be done), and only very fine mould lines, here and there.

And a cool scorpion, the detail on this model is so fine, it is hard to see

I could not wait, so washed and assembled 3 of the Arena Rex miniatures. 2 of them where in quite a few tiny parts, but where easy to assemble, superglue bonds very well to the resin they use. There is a tiny bit GS'ing to do in some of the gaps, and a single tiny air bubble on the skirt of one.

First up is Euryale, a stunning model. The scales are amazing



Tiet Khebi in a cool pose. Alot of movement in this sculpt.



Lupa was the bonus mini for the kickstarter. A lovely mini, her hair is epic.

I also painted some stuffs.

This tyranid beast has been 90% completed in ages. Finished it up today, only the base to do.

And a Menoth Journeyman Warcaster, the purple only needs a glaze or two, then on to the black armor and gold trim

I would love to see some of the epic painters in here tackle some.

Excellent purple! Really love it on top of the black undercoat, the contrast is simply striking! Good job!
The tyranid looks awesome!

I got this book in the mail a few days ago, and have been reading and loving it. Only problem is i want to paint my Infinity models like he does, so they are being stripped as we speak.

Painting is proceeding on the Menoth caster.

Paint has been slung. I need a few blue colors in order to get started on my PanOceania, so i flung paint at other minis:

Starting work on gold trim:

Base coated the skin, she is egyptian, which is a first for me

First layer of red scales:

Aaaaaand my painting table has been invaded by this fella, demanding to be painted!

Wow. You have so much goodness started in this thread. Love the
Tyranid beast, that purple cloak is stunning, and nice start on the serpent. The more i see of these arena rex minis the more impressed i am.

Yeah the Arena Rex minis are really stunning. What most impresses me is the attention to proper musculature. And the fact that all the female sculpts have been done without basketball sized boobs.

I got a gift from my dad today, he was in town checking out a new hobbystore and he got me this, as a thanks for painting help on his large wood ships.

Fiddled with some skin today. Really hard to do ethnic skin, but judging from my reference photos, i like the end result.

So much cool stuff! SO MAD I missed Arena Rex. What's you plan for Euryale? Gonna pattern up her scales?

Yes, her character art is really cool, so will be attempting to copy that.
