Marriage proposal

The topic list for this forum section says it includes marriage proposals. Frankly, I\'ve been watching this section--with great personal interest--for a few years and I\'ve yet to see a marriage proposal.

This is potentially of significant importance to me. I\'ll be 50..., err, make that 40/plus-kinda-ish, on May 18th (MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW) and frankly I\'m not getting any younger.

To get straight to the point:

I come with a significant dowry.....a strapping teenage son and one ba-ZILLION little painted men. The son can be irritating but the painted men mostly keep to themselves and add to the home decor.

I speak English really goodly \'cause I learned it smart-like in school. French is a second language....to some people... but probably not me according to my french language speaking friends. I do like how the word formidable sounds, however. When you 50-something, or make that 40 something, it sounds much better than saying \"cool\", \"neat\", \"Rad\", or \"wicked\"., ...which all mean the same thing.

I can cook when forced to and enjoy fencing when I\'m not pooped from work. I like working with all my clients, who I tend to see as naughty children who just need a mother. I am also gainfully employed with a day job in the biggest scam racket,....I\'m a lawyer.... where people actually PAY ME ! to espouse my opinions.

and since I\'ve got lots of those I figure I\'ve got job security forever.

Qualifying applicants for wedded bliss in miniature heaven must have placed in either a Golden Demon competition, GenCon, or at least come in on the top 3 for a ReaperCon sophie. Extra consideration will be given to painters who can also sculpt, do conversions, create concept art, and address occasional household plumbing issues.

I am an equal opportunity opportunist, without regard to race, religion, or country of origin. It would be kinda nice, however, if your gender was specifically male, since I\'m an old fashioned gal with leanings that way.

I hope to see some interesting resumes in my inbox or posted on the forum. Don\'t be shy.

People who still paint with Testors, however, need not apply.

Yours truly, ...perhaps...
Kathryn

What if we can do all of those things, but have never entered a competition?

Tragic to be so thoroughly eliminated because I\'m not competetive.

While we do live in the same state, I\'m sure my wife would object. Although, I wouldn\'t mind learning the ins and outs of fencing.

If you don\'t get many takers and have to lower your standards, how about lowering those standards to guys who actually know the meaning of the word espouse?

While I may not meet your high standards or belong to the right gender I thank you for brightening my afternoon and giving me something to have a giggle about.

how\'s that again ?

@ rextalon: I beg your pardon, but was that your Freudian slip just showing?

@ bullfrog: If he\'s knows what the word \'espouse\' means --especially if used in an alternative way in a marriage proposal --that\'s good for sure. :) ...and yes, you may be correct that I might ought to consider lowering my standards. ...Along those lines, what are your thoughts on Democrats? Do you have any experience in matrimonially domesticating them? Would the fact that one paints or collects minis otherwise offset sufficiently for political views in variance with mine? Or are the more financially well-endowed republican types more likely to be able to maintain the level mini buying to which I\'ve become accustomed?

Is wiccanpony starting a new contest?

\"Why buy the bull if (fill in the blank)\"

Isn\'t filling in the blank what the bull is for?

My stud fees are very reasonable.

I am unfortunately \'cash poor\' at the moment but have had significant income years in the past and will again in the not to distant future. I do have a mother with money and will be quite well off when she\'s gone. I have a ba-ZILLION and one little men which if combined will make a significant collection. There are three children in the mix (and a wife that doesn\'t like me very much) which I\'m fairly sure the wife would get in a divorce settlement.

While I don\'t speak french that well due to my limited vocabulary what little I do speak is done with near perfect diction, and I roll my \"r\'s\" quite well thus saying words like formidable quite well. I also have a very french name (Michel Jeanrie for those not in the know, and yes \'Michel\' is pronounced like the girls name only it\'s not a girls name while the last name is two syllables and you must roll the \'r\' to say it properly) which will impress Francophone friends.

I don\'t fence but have wanted to learn. I do however collect swords in addition to \'little men\' and not the junky swords you buy at the knife shop in the mall (though I may have one or two of those types), the pride of my collection being an 17th century Prussian cavalry officers sword. I do not really cook but am great at phone dialing for take-out. I am employed in the most overpaid position of the most overpaid industry in Canada... I\'m an IA (called many things in many places... Investment Advisor, Stock Broker, Financial Planner, etc...). I get paid to tell people to give me their money. I do have a lawyer and my younger brother is a lawyer so I\'m quite familiar with \'lawyer stuff\'.

I haven\'t actually placed in a Golden Demon competition but I did pick up an honorable mention back at US Games Day 1 or 2 (don\'t remember) in Baltimore. Sadly I haven\'t really gotten any better since then while the rest of the painting community has. I can\'t sculpt and I have trouble drawing stick figures but I can convert and have a side hobby of building models (typically WWII tanks in 1/35 scale). As an ex-owner of a contracting company I am quite handy around the house and can fix/remodel most things though I tend to electrocute myself when wiring and have a strong dislike for the odors that come from plumbing work.

I\'m a 37 year old white guy who\'s a bit thick around the middle but used to be in excellent shape (it all goes to pot when you stop working at it). Tall, dark, and handsome I\'ve been told with \'bedroom eyes\' as one of my (female) managers once told me.

As for the Testors, I don\'t use them on minis anymore, haven\'t in ages. But I still have a few bottles for the odd model building project, especially for when I build the occasional car model.

If I am accepted for this position I will need some time to give notice to my current commitment but I\'m sure she would be all to happy to be rid of me.

lol

The closest we (as a forum) came to a marriage proposal was with Tooshy and I ;)

I did the proposal bit in real life, but the sentiment was there :) And we are still happily engaged :D

I\'d say oh to be twenty years older, but sadly from your remark about Golden Demons, you are obviously a competition snob. Where\'s the love for people who just aren\'t competitive by nature? You work in a high-paying profession, why would you need a mate who was \"ambitious\" or \"motivated\"? You should be thinking \"pool boy\".
