marvel zombies

Sounds interesting but really isn\'t. It\'s low brow, not creative, and the premise doesn\'t really carry past the first issue or so.

Other people love it. I give it poor marks. Doesn\'t keep me from buying them all mind you!

I bought the first few.

It was good fun, but yeah, overall kind of weak.

Is it still going on? I thought they ended it?

They put one out every now and again. Even did a Evil Dead vs. Marvel Zombies thingy. That was weeeeeeeeeeaaaak sauce! But it did have Dr. Doom as the last Bastion for humanity\'s survival, so that counts for something with me. I\'m a big fan of the good Doctor!

They\'re two trades for Marvel Zombies, and I heard they were going to try and crack through into the regular continuity at some point but I hope to christ that got stomped.

Red Rain- About 1000 times more creative then Marvel Zombies.... and I am not a big Batman fan

I stand by my hatred of Marvel Zombies. Well, maybe not hatred. Haybe Hatred lite, with fewer carbs.

The premise didn\'t last past the first dozen panels, and the story is prett non existent. from where I stand anywhoo.

What other comics are you reading, BTW? \'cause if it\'s zombies you want, go pick up Walking Dead. It\'s pretty fair, especially for the first half dozen trades!

ive already been reading the walking dead for years... and as for comics i only pick them up in trade paperback form nowadays. i hate to admit it but i am a \"marvel zombie.\" i love marvel more than dc..... with the exception of dc/vertigo. i love the ultimates, x-men, 1985, batman, transformers, the first 50 issues of spawn.. books of magic, hellraiser comics, lobo etc. bunch of stuff.

I\'m with you on the trades. That\'s how I usually pick up my marvel, and I tend to avoid the regular continuity DC as well.

Particularly amusing, since MZ and WD are written by the same guy.

WD is about 15 Hulk-sized leaps ahead of MZ, though.

Kirkman\'s good, no doubt, but I find most of his stuff peters out for me after about 36-50 issues. WD, Invincible come to mind as two series that I loved, and then kind o flost interest in. I\'m a big Strazynski fan (Except his spider-man stuff. Ugh.) and the non-preachy Warren Ellis stuff is superb. Ed Brubakers run on Cap A has been tremendous for me as well. I give the people who write for the long existing frnchise titles credit when they\'re able to make it interesting without spitting in the eye of long running fans by bashing the continuity around (One more day? WOWZERS!). That\'s a fine line to be able navigate and some do it very well methinks.

WD was at a point around issue 40 where he really had to shake things up in a big way to refresh the series.

He did.

The storyline that ran from 43-48 was called \'No One Is Safe\'...and he meant it.

:D

My two favorite current writers are Garth Ennis and Geoff Johns. Garth can (and often does) go too far with some things, but that\'s part of the reason I like him; to this day, Hitman remains my favorite series of all time. Johns is, IMO, the best writer working in the industry right now.

Check the bibliography on his wiki page:

The current Green Lantern storyline has been about 14 flavors of awesome, though I recall you don\'t like GL. His Flash stuff was good, Booster Gold and 52 were great, JSA is really good...hard to go wrong with anything he\'s done IMO.

I actually went and picked up the Green Lantern Secret Origin on your reccomendation last night. So far I\'m non plussed but that might not be fair to Johns as I am a big hater of Green Lantern. I\'ll dig for some of his non continuity DC stuff. Thanks for the suggestion, I\'ll make a trip down do the comic shop on the weekend and spend a little more time digging.

I had to stop my comic collecting/reading 2 years ago when I separated from the wife. Too expensive.

I am SO glad I did. \"One More Day\" I only heard about and it made me sick to my stomach. That probably would\'ve made me stop reading right there.

Occasionally I miss it, but I look every 4 months or so and it\'s usually the same-old same-old.

I DO miss the Ultimate Universe stuff, and great writers like Ennis and Simone.

But not enough to shell out that kind of money again.
