Ok so idk if this is the right place to post this but im in the middle of a diorama and cant find a way to do a large area of stone tile consistently with some detail/symbols in it. Ive been looking around and found no luck, any ideas thoughts would be appreciated. is green stuff/putty my best bet?

Depending on what symbols you want, you might be better off buying some premade floor tiles from a company like Ainstay or any number of sellers on Ebay. If there are some specific pattens you want, then I'd sculpt one, make a press mould and do it that way.
Hope that helps.

There are several manufacturers of plastic card which might suite your needs.
Wills...Very heavy material and a swine to cut, but does have some excellent textures to select.
Plastruct sheets...Various square tiles 4mm to 1mm square.

Rugne has mentioned Ainsty bases, sadly Michael who owned Ainsty passed away 3 years ago, but the bases are being made by Old Crow now.

Aww man, that is sad, I didn't know, met him several years ago at either Salute or SELWIG, great fella.

Yep met him and his wife, and their West Highland terriers at Several shows. Always got on well with all of them and had such a great modellers attitude. Got some good bargains from him as well.
Cancer took him very quickly.

Make a stamp and you could punch out some nice consistent tiles easily.

One easy thing would be to use something printed. Here's a mouse pad design -

Hirst arts is another option, depending on what you're looking to do. You didn't mention genre, or if you needed to do the detailing yourself.
