matisse derivan paints

hey
does anyone use matisse flow paints?

http://www.matisse.com.au/pages/flow.htm

a lady at the craft shop recommended them to me, cuz she paints minis and uses this paint, i have bought a few.

They are a bit thicker in consistancy than GW paints and they take longer to dry but that can be fixed (lol when i say longer i mean it can sometimes stay wet on my wet pallet for 3 days)

but you do get a LOT more paint for your money , they mix well and can be used with GW paints.... there are a lot of colours to choose from, many are similar to GW in colour and all for $6 AUD a tube (75ml)

anyway i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on these paints. any tips or suggestions would be handy!

cheers :D

Never heard of em myself might have to check em out, like paints that take a bit to dry. Got any pics of models done with em or the consitency on the pallete???

Fozzbozz sold them until he closed it down. I only tried the black primer, though. It was very thick, I\'m not sure if it\'s intended to be that way or had thickened up over time or extreme temperature exposure. But it thinned out nicely and worked fine.

I bought a few and wasn\'t really impressed. Kind of like the Rackham paints, but not as good.

I only had a few colors though, so of course I don\'t really have any more experience with them than you do. ;)

Ive seen discussions about their bottled hobby paint designed for miniatures on other forums.. Some like their Reds and yellows because of the coverage.

My theory on paint is ..stick with what you know.. Ive thrown away a lot of money on other paint lines only to end up back where I started.

I have a couple bottles of the Derivan Minis, which is not the stuff you liked to.
The stuff you linked to looks like artists paint in tubes.

The Minis (to be precise, \"MiNiS\") seem pretty much like Vallejo/GW. I haven\'t used them extensively as I only have 2 colors that I got as a prize, but they cover well and I like the dropper bottles loads more than the Vallejo dropper bottles.

I\'ve read a few comments on them over the years (from regular artists, not mini painters) and I think all of it has been positive but IMO there are better choices in paint of this rough type.

I use artists\' paints mostly for the hobby and if you want reliable matt drying with the same value for money (incredibly cheap compared to hobby paints) Jo Sonja\'s are really worth trying. If you\'re used to Dullcoting things anyway the natural matt finish isn\'t as important but it\'s good stuff and I recommend it regardless.
