Today featuring: Confrontation\'s \"Darkness Hunter\"
Im trying a lighting effect on this guy, everything is being blended up to Space Wolves Grey, to represent the bluish tint of moonlight. I thought of sherlock holmes when purchacing this guy, so i decided to do a dark scheme, and he will be based on a cobblestone street. Also, the shot in the middle of the picture is too bright, he is much more like the other, darker pictures.

Any suggestions? BTW the NMM is not very rough IRL. :D

Very nice and dark.

I would suggest using the same highlighting that you used on the back of his cloak on his front. It look as though there is a fair amount of detail on the scabbard/holster/whatever it is around his groin and abdomen that are getting \"lost\" in the dark.

Thanks for the comments Thecadian and treide.

I Will upload a few new shots sometime this week. The scabbards, etc are not done, in fact, not even basecoated. The only things that are done are the trenchcoat, the hat, the sleeves, blade, face, and strap.

Inquisitor Bust and Pippin

Inquisitor.jpg

Pippin.jpg

Just finished pippin, and got started on this forge world inquisitor bust i had lying around. Im trying to go for a very realistic look on the inquisitor, so im trying out some of the historical mini\'s techniques.

Thoughts?

The flesh is superb on the bust but the eyes just pop out a little too much.

It\'s possible at that scale to indicate iris colour and then pop the pupil out in the middle with a couple of whitedot\'s.
Your skill on the hobbit show\'s your more than capable of attempting that Matt.
Good luck and keep em coming.

btw the DH Rocks there such cool models just got mine.

Thanks demonherald! I will get a better shot of the eyes, because even though it cant be seen in the picture, his eyes are actually green with a black dot in the center and a white dot slightly offset from that. The lights I have just dont work to my liking (too yellow and harsh) so i take my photographs in a diffuser box with the only lighting being the florescent lights on the ceiling, so it makes everything a little darker.

Matteo, I really like your blending jobs onthe Sherlock-ish dude.

How did you work up to white on the blades, and especially on the back of the cloak. I really like the clothing, the hat and cloak are flippin neat mate!
Are you looking for an apprentice? heheh

*edit*

I actually stared more and more at your cape thingie, and although I do still like it, there looks like a black rectangle of shading on the back, umm, maybe work some more color to kill that thing, cuz once I spot it, i can\'t stop seeing it!!!

Thanks for the comment!

The cape on the darkness hunter is just black up to space wolves grey. Many thin layers, built up very close to eachother on the highest points of the cape. Same thing with the blade, but began with a basecoat of shadow grey/chaos black/codex grey.

Im not sure which rectangle you are talking about? Could it be a pouch or something that is still basecoated black?

Update!

inquisitor2.jpg

inquisitor3.jpg

Got a better shot of the face/eyes, and the recent addition of the NMM brestblate.

I really like NMM and I wanted to do it on this guy, but I havent seen any that really fits the darkness of the 40k universe (nmm generally looks best on elves and other fantasy miniatures), so I had to go out on a limb and experiment with this color formula. I like how it turned out, very dark, grungy looking.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I like that NMM. Not to bright like some can be. Got a nice worn look about it for me. I may have a go one day.

Looking smart

Yet another WIP

ConfrontationDwarf.jpg

Nearly finished on this guy. NMM very similar to what I\'ve been doing on the Tarascus (Which I will post new pics soon).

In case you havent guessed, yes, I have TONS of works in progress! (I have a very short attention span, and I jump from project to project a lot ):)

Im thinking of what to paint the pouch full of gears on his back. I dont want to do the standard brown, because he has all the NMM bronze, so maybe a red or a natural grey?

Thoughts are greatly appreciated,

-Matt
