Matte finish issues...

I\'ve been using Testors Dullcote on my last 4 minis and I am not very happy with the finish. No matter what I do I still get a shinny coat in some areas..especially on reds!

Help! I\'ve tried different cans and no effect.

i have had this problem occasionally. make sure it is firmly shaken for a while. also don\'t hole the can too close to the mini. if doing multiple coats, wait for each one to be dry

I\'ve had this happen, to an extent. Not shaking enough will do it for sure, but it might just be a coverage issue. It\'s difficult to see coverage with spray dullcote (as opposed to primer, which is immediately evident.) Multiple sprayings help a lot, but I also recommend getting a bottle of brush-on matte varnish for touch-up.

shake the can until you can get the ball bearing inside to swirl around the can evenly.
this ensures the matt agent is properly mixed in.

then spray from 6-8 inches away.

doing this i have never had a problem, and i\'ve dullcoted loads of minis.

Be patient, take your time and this stuff is fool proof.

if i start getting little dots where its more glossy than the rest does that mean i\'ve sprayed too much or not shaken it up enough???

Might be because you are spraying too heavily or are spraying when the humidity is too high as well.

A very light coat seems to be the dullest.

Da Rat nailed it. Here in wonderful FL, the humidity is a killer. Very light coats. Too much and it becomes semi-gloss.

If you can spray it inside - even better. (my wife has a cow, so I do it on nights she won\'t be home until late)

Or, spray it outside, then run inside with the mini. This seems to help some.
