Im busy working on a LoTR Frodo minature for my little brothers birthday, this is what i have so far:

IM000125.jpg

All the colours are just basecoats and have had no blending added to them, except the sword which i am leaving black because i dont know wether to paint it silver/NMM/blue.

I would like to know any tips on how to make the material look like rough cloth with a textured look to it?

It\'s hard to tell if anything is wrong because it\'s only basecoated. The only thing I can see is that the eyes are the same color as the skin.

Thanks,

Jake

Looks to me as if black base coat was showing through.
I\'d a couple more diluted coats for the base coat to have somthing solid to work on.

Iv highlighted the pants, cloak, face and hands. Eyes were really hard to do as i get bad shaky hand when ever i do detail that tiny! I dont know wether to add another highlight to the cloak or not? What do you think?

looking good
2 points

1-there is some red on the inside of the cape.should be easy to sort out

2-the eyes.they look to large and staring trt and fill in the white above and below the pupil

nice work though

The mini is almost 90% finished now, i still need to do the sword but im not sure weather NMM or Glowing blue with OSL would suit it best, and tidy up any nitpicks people comment upon! (I have painted more brown on the base so that black section is not there now)

The flesh also looks a bit washed out but that was because of the flash on the camera and i couldnt be bothered to tone it down on photoshop! When this mini is finished i am looking for about a 6 score on CMoN.

Thats what i do! but all my mini\'s just miss out on the 6 mark, or just reach it, so im aiming for a solid 6 with this one!

Finished the mini! Ended up using metallics on the sword, tryed NMM but couldn\'t get it to work on that small a sized blade. Please rate and/or comment:

looking good you had a good pic.all of mine are to close in.

anyway the mdel.as i said dbefore the eyes arent perfect but the jerkin looks brill.to improve the cloak slightly do a few thin layers rather then a single thick coat this will make it even better.

i voted 6

Cheers! I wasnt fully pleased with the cloak but i couldnt figure out why? so il follow your advice on my next hobbit! (Im gonna du all four) I have real problems with eyes, this is only the second time i have painted a face with \'real\' eyes (i have painted nids and marines but they are just red lines not white with black!) I did go back and try to improve them, but couldnt get them \'right\' so just decided to leave them as they were in order to advoid ruining them anymore! But, cheers for the comments and im sure Sam will improve on the flaws in this model!
