Hey, I finished this guy off this afternoon. Could have used more time and effort on the shading I think, but the highlighting looks to moe to be a step forward. On to the next one, and more improvements to come.

All in all I don\'t think this is anything to write home about. Myself I would give it a 6-6.5 maybe. But I did get more comfortable with the metalic process and I think my next result will be better yet.

Thanks to all for the great help so far, Here is the vote link.

I paint my thumb.
Pretty good, the hair/beard is a little plain, but I like what you did with the cloak. If I remember the process, I think a light blue wash on the snow would. help it look more natural.
I\'d like to line up my minis as fast as you do, can\'t wait to see the next one.

I watched the WIP thread with interest.
All the suggestions you seem to have tried to take on board, but I\'ve come to a conclusion that you might benefit more by a \"paint along side in person\", afternoon.
You\'ve got the overall neatness and brush control and the principles of washes and tones, you just need to have a demonstration of placement for effect. That way I\'m sure you\'d get the Next Step in producing the level of painting that you want to achieve.

This is a pretty good piece of work an nothing to be ashamed of, in fact quite the reverse.
A couple of things I\'d have done differently, I\'d have strengthened the shield field colour so that the blue didn\'t look quite as \"soft\"or pastel and I\'d have cleaned out the gaps on the shoulder squares as there are a couple of bits showing which \"catch\" my eye.

Photo is a bit dark to be sure of what I\'m seeing.
Glad to hear you\'re getting more comfortable - that way you\'ll relax more, that will help your results because it will be a more natural process.:)

Hey, thanks for putting in the vote link!

I think all the comments are fair. I have just started going throught the JBT DvD which is a bargain at twice the price and really putting the exclamation on all the things I\'ve been told all along. Just as Mike/Dragonsreach said, sometimes it\'s just plain easier to comprehend when you see someone do it.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

@Boristfrog - It\'s wierd, I love the hobby, look forward to spending a little time every day doing it, but I think I have become really \"up tight\" about the process. I didn\'t think about it until you said I might become more relaxed but I think you\'re right. Wierd....

Thanks again, next one should be a step up. Youngster Hestan101 challenged me to a duel so that\'s going to be one of my next stops.

@Starchaser-No not yet, I moved on to knocking out some 15mm russians for a Flames of War army for a little while, but I do have it written down and I have a few old shields I am going to try it on. While I have your attention...

Why so thin on the First Chainmail cote? Is it meant to be just a little thicker then a wash? I have it down as 1:3 paint to water at home I think.

But you betcha I\'m going to try it. I am kind of in the middle of an army so it\'s wierd as I don\'t want to use to many different recipes or techinques or my army won\'t look cohesive so I am trying to break the project up by working on other stuff to experiment with the new ideas I\'m getting. Thanks again sir!

Youngster Hestan101 challenged me to a duel so that\'s going to be one of my next stops.

If he actually paints something instead of moaning I\'ll be happy. Max goes to our local store so I can bug him for updates :D Can\'t wait to see how this contest goes.
