I know when I have painting eyes I NEVER want to do back to them once im happy but I think she would benefit from a lightish pink shade along the bottom eye lids.
Its up to you and it could cause a total repaint of the eyes :tremble:

Well that looks great! I have no suggestions. Nice colour composition, balanced, the suggestions will top it off.

you mean like in the corners (and less visibly on the bottom of the eye too) ? (Image is an enlarged part of the WIP2 image)

I don't fear the 'repaint' I have magical help there. It's the Rackham paints. While thinned they adhere to the surface so badly, that they behave more like pigments, than paints --> I have about a minute or so to move it around / wipe it if I don't like it / correct painting errors. :D

Yep in the corners and along the bottom lid, like you have done but with a more pinky pink to stay away from the skin colour. You need to decrease the dark shadow line just above the bottom eye lid.

This is gorgeous Maxx and you really pulled off the hat pattern. I feel like the hair needs something more...but take that with a grain of salt as i have been having problems with the hair on several female minis recently. I may need a knock to the head...or get some painting done myself!Lol ;)

Thanks for the comments.

Demihuman:

- hair will be tricky, as I have NO idea what I used as a base color, and the lightest shade was almost pure white, but I'll see what I can do

- and most importantly: I don't understand what you're trying to say with the eye part. Where should the lighter color go? On the eyelids or upper brow or ???

Okay so this is an earlier pic from your WIP. I have put a big red arrow pointing to what I was talking about. I like the pure white BELOW the eye. I think that pops all your eye features. I don't think you need to make it nearly as bright as in the picture below but maybe just reintroduce a hint of that.

I also did a little photoshop of what I was talking about on the hair. Just a tiny bit more white I think will give the hair more depth. But it will also make the hair look shinier and I am not sure you want that.

ohh, ok.

sadly that white was just a part of the lighting when I took the picture. The color I had there was the VMC-BasicSkintone. That said, I haven't changed it, it remained like that, even if it's not really visible in later pictures.
The freckles make that area a bit darker, but the underlying layer is unchanged.

As for the hair: I used pure white with a light glaze of "BaalRed" at the end, because it was too strong. We'll see if that's enough or not.

...BaalRed, based on the HUSH-Tutorial I finally start to like that wash, and I run out of it.

Next up... one of these:
- remaining 8 Orphans for Nemesis
- 70mm Master Yoda (tempting, as there are only 2 areas (cloak, skin) to do)
- Chief Sorrow
- JMD Aayane
- start of the Ragnarok Lion Army for a competition (with 5 Knights + Dragan, Mirvilis, 3+2 Falconer), cca 750-800pt. (I just undercoated them with a black-white combo to let the primer cure)

As I said, this this most likely because of it's ease (only 2 clothes + face to paint)

So I present Yoda (more or less ready, I might fix some transitions that are too bright and separate on the front)

Knight Models, 70mm (but yoda being small it's less than 54mm high). It's NA anymore, as they lost/gave back the SW license.

sadly this blog was pretty close about the face: http://twistedbrushes.blogspot.de/2013/03/best-freehand-everd.html
The details were shallow, and the eye... a PITA to do.

edit:
And a Yoda joke I got for the pic on a mailing list:

Luke: Are we still on the right path, master yoda?
Yoda: Off course, we are.

new day, new WIP :)

I know it's not contrasty enough for the taste of the pro-s here, but in-hand I like this look better for this bust, so I won't HL the face to white and such. I still have to finish the horns though.

Haven´t read your thread for some time, the bust of the girl turned out really nice there, like the composition of colours really nice flow and adds to the character of the figure. Your later work is also nice :)

Yeah blech:lying: I hate it - when you are done with it you should just send it to me and I'll "hide" it in my display cabinet where no one is sure to see such a shameful specimen of poor painting :sarcastic:...

well, next, that comes is not that nice :)

Id if like to see these Nemesis Orphans you speak of.
Just finished the Nemesis figures with a quick TTQ in mind, so they can be used for games and demos.
They certainly won't win any painting prizes :D

After these something painful... a cca. 800pt Alahan Army that's mostly made of Knights and Falconers, with a LOT of NMM (too many for my taste anyway) and generally aiming to make something nice (like the ophidians last year, or better).

Edit: forgot to write to the pic:
The 6 models (3 Ants, Moth, 2 Scorpions) back were already painted, they are just there for the 'group effect' :). What I finished now is basically the front row.

Nice little orphans. But, really can't wait to start and see the Lions. There is a lot of NMM to do on them, but the Lions look best in NMM. What would Jean Bey think if you used Metallics.

not much to show yet.
- Figures are built (pinned, gaps filled, mouldlines removed) and undercoated.
- Bases are built, to match more or less the ones that were already made.

4 knights and the falconers are from a friend they were prepared and undercoated in white, but I never expected that I have to do so much preparation work them, so remove from base, strip, file, glue, fill, pin... almost double work. Also to make my life a bit easier I undercoated with black first, then dusted them in white, this way I can forget some of the hard-to-reach places.

next up: AB either the horses (different grays and browns) or their armor(red).
Then either a test with the goldNMM on one of the shield OR start with Mirvilis.

what would Jean Bey think? I don't care :) , he DID decide for metallics in the CaoR prepainted figures (which basically killed the company)

Oh man, that looks like a lot of painting. Maybe you could AB the NMM and then paint everything else in? You could do the armor in gold that way too. White and grey horses with gold armor?

Here is a random tut from google:

Whatever you do you have your work cut out for you. Those are some beautiful models.
