yeah, that looks much better to my eyes. i like how you didn't go overboard with the dirt too, keeps the mini llloking clean with a bit of realism

I'd like to say, another WIP, but I pretty much consider is finished. :)

As I wrote earlier, there was a plan to make this little diorama in monochrome, but with different shades / colors. Had no idea if it would work, and to be honest I still don't know, but I like it pretty much, so repainting is out of question.

Originally I tried to have some contrasts on the 2 figures (good vs evil):
- cold and warm colors
- bright and dark
- high contrast by being in a part of the base (dark figure on the light part of the base)
- some common elements are inverted (a part of the shirt, that's light on one of the mini, is dark on the other)

- altought I didn't plan it that way, but I also got a saturated-dull contrast on them (I used the same method for both colors, but the VAC-DarkSeaBlue just overpowered the grey, while the VAC-Mahagony didn't).

Colors used:
- cold: VAC-DarkSeaBlue + VMC-BlackGrey + VAC-Black as the darkest color, VGC-GhostGrey + VAC-White as the lightest. Everything else is a mix between those 2
- warm: VAC-Mahagony + VMC-BlackGrey as the darkest color, VMC-Ivory + VAC-White as the lightest.
- base: VAC-Black ... VAC-White (with a little cheat of VGC-ColdGrey and VGC-FortressGrey to skip a few mixing parts)

Anyway here is the picture that I quickly took now:

About a month ago I asked a few friends what should I paint next, they said: Rackham - Khor Knights.
So this week I started working on them. Following the written paint recipes, paints and 'methods' from CryHavoc.
There is still a lot to do especially all the silver-NMM, but other seemingly finished areas need some retouch/fixing mistakes too.

ohh, and I forgot... all the oxidation too... god I'll hate it.

thanks for the comment.

Trystan: I think it was ok, with a few small and 1 big problem along the way

small ones
- you have to be careful with the golden globes that go on the wings. They are relatively fragile. And the mouldline goes through detail, so you have to: hide the cleaning marks / resculpt details / clean up really carefully
- I painted it in pieces (body, wings, arms separate), after painting I put it together to have some extra gaps to fill. first I tried with liquidGS (or rather vallejo's version, plastic putty) only to have less than good results, then I turned to good old milliput and with a lot of water I made the joins smooth. Of course then I had to repaint / reblend it... so extra work I wasn't too fond of
- tried to paint the cloth with oils, I'm a complete newbie to the medium, so it was less than optimal (also touching the mini after 3 days to see it's still not 100% cured... wasn't fun)

and the big one:
- the right side of the mini was misaligned with quite a big noticable difference for the 2 mould halves. After getting rid of the mould line I had to partly resculpt the muscles on the right leg and right arm. This was the only real flaw that I hated to work with.
it could be that I was only unlucky (I have most of the KD sculpts and none had a flaw this big) or it could be affecting all of them (hopefully not).

other than these, it was a nice excercise in skintones, expressions and painting feathers :) . The other parts are relatively simple enough.

nothing new painted since the dwarves, but I have a question.
I looked around and I have too many armies, so I decided to sell at least one of them. The one I chose are Tau, the question is: what do you think, how much should I ask for them? What is about a good/fair price for a painted army of Tau?

First, "I looked around" Never do this. It's why I want to get rid of my Dark Eldar and Necrons. Second, what is the goal? Profit or make back what you put in? I don't play so i have no idea how good or broken tau are anymore, but from a strictly painting stand point it's nice looking army.

I had to look around, there is no room for new minis :D and what a coincidence, I was also thinking about DE and Necrons, except DE will definetly go too, but there I won't get money, but credit for other commissions. And the necrons will probably stay (altough the original plan of having everything to the max (9 spiders, 10+ croissants, 30 lychguard, ...) won't happen, ever as it would cost too much just to get them, not to mention painting them/having them painted by someone else.

Goal is mostly to get back what I put in including part of the painting time. So the minimum would be the retail price with hope for extra because it's painted. What I'm not sure if it's a realistic wish or not.

I think retail+ up to 15% is not unrealistic with a nice set like that. I've seen far worse go for well over retail. eBay continues to amaze me :dont-know:

I just LOVE to live in the eu.
You wake up and there is still enough minis in the KD shop to buy each new release :D

edit: with the exception of the spec savior. but no idea if I really wanted it or not. I'm happy with th painted skirt+cape version I have

Not much is happening, as it's the end of year and Xmas time and all, so only one small thing, that arrived today at the post from KD: The DungBeetleKnight and a bag-of-death.
The DungBeetle is looking awesome, smaller than the StormKnight, but still large enough.
In the bag I got:
- 2 White Speakers (they look ok, one's feet is a bit miscast, but easily fixable/hideable)
- 1 Early Mother Variant
- 1 Early Savior (male)
- 1 Preacher pinup (looks about ok to me)
- 1 Aya body (with the extra bits I have from other KD releases I think I can make a complete figure from it)
- 1 survivor pinup body (this could be redone too, if I could figure out a way to have a copy of the right leg... or go steampunk and build a mechanical pegleg.)

all in all a pretty good grab + I'm really hopeing for some new Xmas releases.

Luck guy! I just got my hands on a 54mm twilight knight pin up. She's stunning (Dem hips! LOL) so I've put her aside with my FW primarches/HH characters into the "when I get better" pile...
