That Tinkerbell is very nice. The wings are not as realistic as the rest, but i think that is due to the sculpt and have no useful suggestions to improve them.

In his defense, he glazed on a variety of colors for the kind of rainbow effect you get when looking at an actual flies wing....problem is I imagine these have to be soooo subtle that they'd never show up on camera...probably looks a lot more realistic IRL.

i don't disagree. Even with the photography issue i get a sense of the creative effort put on the wings to make them look like a realistic version of the Disney Tinker we are all so used to.

- colors mostly done (some panels /parts may be rebased to a darker grey), hmm weirdly on the pic the used base (VMC-Buff) is almost invisible,as if I hadn't done it
- decals (mostly caution and warning text) applied
- pinwash with oil done

- next up chipping (apparently it takes the longest to do on tanks)

as I wrote in the steampunk paint-along: distractions, distractions, distractions. :)

I think I'm done with the base color + airbrushed shadows, also a bit of work on the hair and face.

next step will be sometimes after eastern: Pigment work, then decal 'clothing'.

What I don't like: the small unevenness on the surface. I don't know how they got there (figure was washed and all). And I'm not totally satisfied how the connection under the arm looks like (uneven as hell), but at least that won't be too visible after the pigment + shade work.

She looks beautiful! Very nice skin tones so far, and I love the hair.

I'm not sure what you mean about the unevenness on the surface. Do you mean the small raised dots on her skin? I've ran into similar problems. It was actually tiny dried paint clumps coming off my airbrush. When they hit the surface of the model they would almost instantly bond and I would have to sand them off and repaint that area.

The armpit can easily be fixed with a small dremel carving bit in less than five minutes. If you do, just don't go too deep. I think your right though, after the decals it shouldn't be able to notice much if at all.

so the mini I bought with me to my holiday to work on it if I have time/liking to paint is tumult from mcvey minis.
The plan is to paint it up as SENMM chrome.
So far I roughly blocked in the parts that should be blue/brown (sky, earth) based on where I thought it should be sky-earth and a few Boris Vallejo pics.

My question is: based on the pic would you change it somewhere ? (and if yes, where and how)

thanks for any help in this. I *know* this figure will be hard to paint up properly for me.

Tried to shade/highlight the legs according to the theory:

nope, doesn't look good at all.

The idea to do it panel-by-panel doesn't work, so time to do something I haven't done in a long time: strip the paint from the figure.
Looks like it will look better if I do a general effect (for example treating the whole leg as one area) and just blackline in the panellines.

Yeah I agree with you Maxx , not a fan of the panelled chrome , what about making the legs a single chrome with a coloured reflection up to the waist .
Loving the purple haired girl , skin tone looks smooth , but yeah what the go of the hairy armpits..... Is she a hippie

Before ruining everything with badly applied decals :)

View attachment 37223

done since last pic:
- eyes
- tried to smooth out the part under the arms
- enlarged nipples as the sculpted ones were too small
- strengthened shadows with pigments
- strengthened highlights with white pigment ;)

edit:
f****ck.
I tried to put on the decals, but couldn't do it, measuring it to the figure it looks like that the ones they gave with the kit are larger than they should be (printed on A4 instead of letter? something similar).
Freehanding it would take forever and I don't want to leave it naked...

so now what?
