Is the texture on the hood of the sweatshirt intentional, or due to the printing process? Is that stepping I also see on her hair around the ponytail?
both are stepping because of the 3d process. I resanded the area, reprimed it. I'll take another pic to see if it's ok or not, then I can start painting the basecoats :)

so far I only got a tracking number. If I check it on the colissimo site I get : "Unknown tracking number"
for me it's:
a. fake number, nothing sent
b. french package service is as good as DHL (sent items, a week after it was still unknown / not found on the DHL site) at being up to date with tracking.

That bust is cool. Once you get the tecture smoothed it should paint up nice.

The ship turned out excellent. As already noted, the black and yellow section look too clean compared to the rest though.

received the cosplay mini too. (#8)
Got an apoligy written besides the mini too. Apparently problems when casting and all.
Would have been smoother if all who ordered it would have been notified via email or if the item's description would have been updated on the website.

bust is progressing, but no pic for now. It wouldn't show much. All I did was a general basecoat with the following colors:
- clothes: VAC DarkSeaGreen hoodie, VAC-WhiteGrey shirt
- skin: VMC BeigeRed
- hair: VMC SaddleBrown

I have to keep the basics simple as I've never been able to remix the same shade from multiple colors.

Started with the eyes wanted to get them similar to the original picture.
Also a bit of highlighting on the nose and upper lips.

Very likely because of the bad ligthing, but it looks like I'll have to work some more on the eyes, so even they are not finished.

edit:
colors used:
- eyes: VMC-SkyGrey, VAC-DarkSeaBlue, VAC-White, VMC-BlackBrown (top lining), mix of VMC-BeigeRed and VAC-FireRed (bottom line and corners), VAC-WhiteGrey (white of the eye)
- skin highlights: so far mixes of VMC-LightFlesh with the base color (VMC-BeigeRed)

some progress.

1. darkened the eyes a bit. I don't remember another mini, where I worked on the eyes this much and not because of mispaints, but tweaks.
2. started to highlight the skin a bit
3. Today I started on the hoodie. First I was painting it, but couldn't get the transitions as smooth as I wanted to, so I gave up. Took out the pastels and worked on it with them. Finally some blacklining/shades strengthened with black. Tomorrow I'll have to seal the pastels. Without it I can't continue working on it.

What's left to do:
- hair
- mouth
- finishing the skin
. adding some logos / patterns to the clothes (most likely with masking + decal)
- ANYTHING you people NOTICE and tell me. As is: mistakes, needed tweaks, ideas that I could implement

edit:
color list as before:
- skin darkened with a mix of VGC-DarkFlesh and VMC-BeigeRed, highlighted with a mix of VMC-BeigeRed+VMC-LightFlesh, then with a bit of VMC-PaleSand added to it
- iris and pupil darkened with a mix of VMC-BlackBrown and VAC-DarkSeaBlue (basically a dark greyish blue), added a bit of yellow to the highlight (making the color more turqoise instead of blue)
- shirt: highlighted with white, shaded with a dark grey pastel, then VAC-Black
- Hood: first tried highlighting it with more and more VAC-WhiteGrey added to it, gave up. Shaded with a dark grey pastel, later with black pastel, highlighted with a light grey, then white pastel. Finally lined/reinforced some shades with VAC-Black.
- Zip-Lock: basically Black-Grey (no idea which, mixed around on the palette from the other greys and the black-white)-White NMM

little progress.

stengthened the shading on the skin, lost some of the lighter highlights :)
added some logos to the clothes.

I really like how the hoodie has come out, the face is looking really nice too, not much in the way of advice to give but I like it so far

Looking great so far. Her skin looks smooth with some nice blending. There's room for more contrast, as she's young maybe more pale tones on the highlights, even some VERY thin glaze of yellow to blend them in. Glazes of some rose reds on the upper cheeks. Some tiny white highlights on the lips \ upper lips.

Hope this helps mate:)

Yeah, she is looking good. Glad the sculpt and cast turned out so well! I really like how the eyes turned out. I know you spent a lot of time tweaking them, the work you put in shows!

I don't mind the amount of contrast on her face. She's a young female character, so softer contrast works. Not that you can't do more, but I don't think it needs it. If you were going to do anything, ten ball's suggestion of some more highlights is a good one. I think the top of the nose looks to be more of a midtone shade, so maybe start there.

I was just looking back at the original concept art image. Take a close look at the color variation in the cheeks. It's a very subtle rosy shade, but I'd like to see something similar here. Looks like there's also a touch of rosy color on the tip of the nose (subtler than the cheeks, but still there).

I'd also like to see more highlights on the hoodie. The way you've got it now, it looks like midtone and shadows but no highlights. Go a few shades brighter, but keep it very limited in area. I think you may have been highlighting, but it was over too large an area so the result just looks like a midtone. Keep it focused on the top of her shoulders, the top of her hood rim, and then just a few small places on the top of folds on her hoodie.

I like her skin now. She has that sun kissed life to her. Great work on the hoodie too. its so subtle at it will get over looked, but that is good you want attention on her face :) It does look soft and comfy though...

Yep, I agree with Zab, she has a healthy tanned skin tone. If that's what you are working toward you're doing an excellent job. I also feel like you need some additional colors in there to really bring her to life. I think Bailey's suggestion of some red glazing is a good one, and maybe some light blues too for shading, though you certainly don't want to overdo it.

some changes:
- as I overshaded the skin too much and 10Ball suggested, the skin was made lighter, but contrast wasn't strengthened as per Bailey03's advice :) (I think most of the contrast we paint doesn't suit female faces)
- added some glazes with red mixed with skintone to the cheeks and nose. They are barely noticable (maybe better on the second pic).
- lips got highlights.
- clothes were highlighted.
- changed hair to a darker brown as compared to the original artwork it was too light and started painting it. Atm it's far from good, but there are thinner strands painted in to make it look more detailed.
- lightened up the right side of the neck quite a bit as I didn't like how dark it was.

Also took a pic from the back, as it was not shown until now on the wips.

Colors:
- hair: VGC-ScorchedBrown highlighted with more and more VMC-Buff, shaded/glazed with VMC-BlackBrown.
- clothes: extra highlight with a really light grey pastel, then with a white. Spray used to fix the pigment made it somewhat darker.
- cheeks, nose, lips: VAC-FerrariRed with different skintones mixed in
- skin: messed around with the colors mentioned in previous entries (RedBeige, LightSkin, Ivory, DarkFlesh), added some GreenBrown to the temples (again barely noticable in life, just like the red parts done)

Very nice! I think the lighter skin color looks great and the red tint on the cheeks and nose are perfect.

Something to consider is applying some select gloss and satin varnishes. On a bust I've experimented with giving the eyes a gloss varnish and, for a female character, using a satin varnish on the lips. Now, you've done a catchlight on the eyes, so you may not want to also do a gloss varnish. This comes down to what you like, so I'm not saying do it or don't. Just tossing the idea out there, you can decide if it's something you'd like or not.

already planned to do that.
But basically I always varnish my models, even 'display' ones. But the matt/satin kills off anything I'd do now. So the gloss comes after everything is done.
Even if not used here, but same goes for wet blood, leather, metals, slime and whatnot. Solution would be not to varnish the model and apply the effects as I paint, but I don't feel good about not protecting my paintjobs.

And yes even the eye with the catchlight will get glossed. :)

I'd need opinion if the hair looks ok or not and if I should continue.
I tried to do thin lines to make the hair look more detailed.

colors:
- VGC-ScorchedBrown, shaded with VMC-BlackBrown, highlighted with VMC-Buff then VMC-PaleSand. Some AP-StrongToneInk glazes between the steps and at the 'end'.

I think the colour choice is good but the blending could be a bit smoother on some of the highlights, and possibly take the highlights even lighter in places to get a shine type effect, think the right side looks a bit better than the left and perhaps take the shade where the hair meets the neck a bit deeper too
