Base is more or less complete. It's weird, how washed out the red looks like after a layer of matt medium.
I haven't added the books yet, because I have no idea how I should paint them.
On the artwork all of them are black, but no paintjob I've seen until now painted them that way, but in different shades of green, red, blue. So I need opinions how to paint them:
- black
- very muted, dark colors (mostly dark olive green, dark blue-grey)
and if the titles/ornaments should be metallic gold, or NMM gold.
hmm, now I see that I only basecoated the gems in the chair too.

As for the female figure. I basecoated the parts, shaded the skin mostly and did the first highlight. But first needed a pic to see if I go the correct way.
Looks like I missed some of the abs, and forgot to matt down the cloth, so it shines like crazy from the red ink I used to make it more vibrant.
For the color scheme I'm very influenced by Nier-Automata at the moment. So very muted colors with 1 chosen and oversaturated element (here the cloth).

I would go with the muted red, green, blue book covers, it will help add a few more colours to the piece, ithink nmm would probably suit the anime style well for the book titles but it might be hard to pull off (seems like there wouldn't be much space to carefully blend)
Also i missed some photos from earlier in the thread, the cyber bust looks great, and the spaceships look good too

So far that distraction has remained safely in her box.
I've seen several mentions of Nier-Automata over the past week, which reminds me that I never got around to unlocking the 4th ending to Nier. I should finish off my stack of ps3 games at some point but I haven't figured out how to paint and game at the same time.

which tiny letters do you mean?
- book covers and pages are freehand (including the cover of the book she holds, were much simpler to do than I expected)
- 2 book spines on the right : when I tried to paint them I found out that they have sculpted detail... 'fun' picking them out.
- text on the skin: decals I have quite a few 1/72 or 1/144 ones for vehicles with small text that can be used here for good effect. Even so most are just unreadable lines. Only the ones on the breasts and the one on the thigh are readable. And you better not read them, as you'll laugh . I think the ones on the breasts are "danger", the one on the thigh "reactor lock". But you have to get really close to be able to read them, so I don't find it a problem.

just in time. Before the holidays start I got the Nocturna minis (Lilith bust, Lucifer) and paints.
The bust is absolutely gorgeous, not much can I say about it. Someone here already have a painted one in the WIPs.
The Lucifer is weird, VERY soft, unlike other Nocturna models. Somehow I feel, that they took the 35mm model, scaled it up to 70mm and didn't adjust it for scale.
And the Malefic Paint Set:
I think I'm gonna love these flesh colors. The set is actually a 3-in-1 set. 4 of the 8 colors are used by all 3 schemes, the other 4 are for: purpleish skin, blueish skin, greenish skin.
I really like the muted grey colors that's in there. I wonder if using them will make painting Lilith (both 70mm and Bust) and Lucifer easier. If nothing else at least I won't have to mix 3-4 colors just to get the base.

I also pitty that kind of "scaling up" Mithril miniatures did it in the past and shifting a 25mm miniature up to a 54mm without imporving it's "details and textures" leaves the end product somewhat bland and lacking.
Which is the difference between those nocturna paints and the regular model color and game color ranges? Is it just the colour tint or there is a difference in the finish too (matt, satin...)?

while I paint some 40k eldar I need some ideas for the upcoming mini.
For the character I bought an animal toy as a sidekick. Basically this: https://www.safariltd.com/wild-safari-wildlife-jaguar-figurines-227729 .
Not 100% as the pose is different and z´the colors are not as vivid, looks better, but still very toy like.
The question to those who did repaint toys in the past (Zab for example): How could I improve on the paintwork with the least amount of hassle?
I don't really want to reprime and restart from 0 as the paintjob is pretty good, but needs improvements to make it more realistic/go better with the 70mm figure that'll stand beside it.

I'd imagine that selective washes along the feet/legs and some light drybrushing for highlights could help, but that depends on how well the toy holds onto paint. If you wanted to take it further, perhaps adding seperate highlights and shading to the spots would help define them more; You'd need to make sure it is somewhat random though, as not all of the hair follicles would be reflecting light.

Finished a few minis this week.
- Yncarnae is ready to be shipped to the owner to be used in his army.
- I got a fun anime kit (Illya in Yukata) that was so easy to build, that I finished without taking wip-s.
- Did a small diorama with a Gorilla I got and hasslefree's Rose. Also finished before I could take wip pictures.
and some progress on the rnstudios mini (painted the reds) + panther (airbrushed+washed+drybrushed some extra shadows / highlights on the paintjob it had):

Ohh and the fleet of Macross ships is growing (I'll try to sell one of the TV version ones, haven't decided if the light blue or the dark green one)

As I worte earlier I couldn't resist and bought the Malefic paint set from Nocturna minis. After trying it a bit on the Elf figure (with the panther) I decided that I want the other one too (fairy flesh set).
It has colors for 'realistic' skin (much more like traditional historical-figure-skin) and a 'fantasy' one (more like the wargaming/fantasy/scifi skins).
So I wanted to give them a try, here are the results.
First a Biker bust from ForgedMonkey. Here I tried to follow the step-by-steps for the realistic skin. I think I went overboard with the shadows and highlights and lost the base color completely. Still I like the result. And the paints... I was wrong that they behave like VMC paints. The paint is more transparent when thinned, but also has a lot longer work-time. Meaning it's better suited to wet-blending colors than to glazes.
As a side effect the skin on this bust was done in 30 minutes from basecoat to last highlight.

And a similar try for the "Forest Skin" from the Malefic set. Here it took longer (2-3 hours for the whole bust), but I also did some intermediary steps with cca. 1:1 mixes from the guide between steps.
I begin to like this malefic set more and more.
The only weird part with this greenish flesh is the deepest shadow. It's a very saturated green, that I had to mix with the base and use as a glaze only or it would have overpowered the mini.

I'll continue working on the biker including softening the skin a bit to bring back the base color too. But I think the Immortal is finished.
UNLESS of course if you have some ideas / advice what to correct or what to do with it.
@Maneas: yeah I was thinking about the light blue one too, even though if you look at the anime it's closer to the color than the green one. (The grey is the movie version, so different from the other two).
@KruleBear: ok, will do. But for sealing the pigments / AB work I had to varnish it. That killed the shine of the eyes pretty much. Don't know if I will paint the elf or the biker next. Probably will switch between them as I get bored of the current one.
