I will start with saying a massive thanks to loler for the original idea. :brushwave:

It all started with my daughter (who is 7) taking an interest in my painting after she had seen the Little Princess I did last month. Then while we were
looking through some old submissions we came across 'Sweet Puppy' painted by loler. My daughter laughed her head off and wanted me to make the mini.

Well this is where it gets interesting because i've never sculpted anything in my life
(you will tell when you see the mini) and I also had a idea it could make
a great present for my wife's birthday.

She loves 'Dexter' the TV series, so I based the theme on that.

Heres the sculpt in green stuff and .... er..... well blu tak - I ran out of green stuff. :messed:

PS I didn't want to post this because I thought you lot would die laughing,
but my wife & daughter made me.

I think it's adorable! It's very cool to share your hobby with the family!

At first I thought it was your 7 year old that liked the show DEXTER. That worried me a bit!


Really dig the shadows you've painted on. Really a nice job on the whole thing.

I was trying to get the impression of him standing in the middle of a room (Like Hannibal Lecter) casting a long shadow.
But I guess the base is a little to big :)

Yes a seven year old watching Dexter is a bit worrying LOL, thanks for the kind comments.

I think that's a great example of how important CHARACTER is in miniatures. So many producers are getting caught up in the tiny details but forget about putting any interest into the piece. Who cares if you can see the individual links in their necklace if the model looks about as interesting as a shirt rack? Static and contrived...

I hope my comment isn't coming across like a backhanded compliment. I sincerely think you've captured the most important aspect of sculpting a great miniature (on your first attempt no less). The rest will come with a little practice, here's hoping you continue to create and share.
