I don\'t remember what the reasons were, but at the end of ME6, a number of people said that it would be better off in the
new news section. So, when I took over from MarkusTay, that\'s where I put ME7. It even got a mention on the news page. I wrote something up and submitted it, but; the powers that be decided it wasn\'t newsworthy enough this time. Oh well. If it\'s not going to be considered as an event, then ME9 might as well come back into General Discussion.

Various things have been tried to attract people to the exchanges. Between Reaper swag, and door prizes being offered. After chatting to Frustrated Father and MarkusTay, who did the previous exchanges, their feeling was that such little tricks did not make a large enough draw-card. I tried it for ME7 too, and found the same.
The ME is a hell of a lot of fun, it can be rather exciting. I\'ve got some minis that I never dreamt of seeing in the flesh, and minis that introduced me to painting sci-fi stuff. Before, I never looked twice at steampunk, cyberpunk or sci-fi at all. After getting some sci-fi goodies in the ME, they\'re now genres that interest me more than fantasy. The ME broadened my horizons somewhat. But at the end of it all, the ME is there for people to pass on minis that they\'re not likely to ever do anything with, in exchange for something that they might.
So, for whatever reasons people might want to be in on it, whether it\'s the fun factor, the potential of seeing things they never otherwise would have, or whether they want to paint something unlike anything they\'ve painted before, the ME is here to stay and will still serve its purpose. If 10 or 50 people participate, I\'ll do it anyway.
And I wouldn\'t worry about stepping on any toes, DD. I\'m still trying to figure it all out myself.
