Here are some very early work in progress images of the first of many Cult mechanicus odels I am working on as part of a commision.
I am drawing inspiration from the Horus Heresy books and tading card art.

The model is a fairly hefty conversion so far and started of as a carnival of chaos dude. New robes sculpted from brown stuff. The bottom of the robes done in green was an afterthought to slightly raise the height of the model.
The cogs are from an alarm clock I bought and hit with a hammer. The mechadendrites are the awesome pewter cables from Dragon Forge design..
The rest is various rod tubing and plasticard.
His backpack is way ott but is designed to be this way these guys basically roam battlefields with garages on their backs scavenging technology as they go.Kinda remind of the goblin in the dump in Labyrinth.
More pics as I pogress but please let me know what you think...

This is just amazing. It really reminds me of some artwork in the 40k 3rd edition rulebook. Awesome work, very 40Kish:) Can\'t wait to see it painted, and more pictures please:D

Cheers

Wow, very interesting conversion. I really look forward to the paint job as this is just all around impressive. Shows much thought and planning. Definately fits into the Mechanicus theme.

Here\'s a couple more pics ..Just a little filling and filing to do..

Looks a bit of a mad mess at the minute with all the different coloured components but I have a clear(ish) image of what the whole thing looks like.
(a lot of the parts come seperate to aid painting.)

I have added different cutting blades and drills to the mechadendrites as well as two little tiny welding spiders.........
The staff is a little tricky to see from this angle but basically I\'ve used a spare iron halo from a terminator sprue and cut the points off the stars and added details to make the mechanicus symbol....
Each of the pipes and mechadendrites is cut and shaped to join around the model and there are a total of around 150 seperate little pieces..

painting starting at the weekend so stand by for more and let meknow what you think...

Excellent! One thing though, the sleeves of the robe should be falling on top of the bionic arms not hover a couple of millimetres above em.

cheers Boyd well spotted the left arm is ok as the cable goes tp the top.
That right one does look a little weird though. will amend that as I do the filling etc.
cheers

The painting shouldn\'t be too bad ( he says crossing fingers and praying to the gods of sable applied colour) as a lot of the pieces are detachable.
The reassembly on the other hand.mmmmmm

I love it, absolutely love it. I want to do an AD mech army so bad but not sure how I\'d put it together. I thought about doing Nurgle AD mech for stand ins in a DG army but not fluffy at all. I applaud you sir!

Well it\'s brilliant. The bits, sculpting, and concept are flawless to me. I could never think to find those parts and mix mash them. I tend to start from scratch on pieces like this and don\'t get that unique look you have going here. I love it. Do more of them. :D :bouncy:
