i was in the process of showing my ironhands standard barer that the flesh is weak, i think he got the point, 1 hour, 2 band aids, some blue painters tape and still gushing! but i wont go to the hospital because i know they have......needles there

(drink some or use it on your finger)

i want to know how this happened and what exactly were you doing in the process?

did your \"ironhands\" standard bearer learn his lesson, or does his iron hands protect better than your own?

*types with one hand* well i was triming some pastic-card i used on top of a base to make it stand a little higher, and using my thumb as a backstop for the blade, well i got a little over-zelous. When i let go of the knife, it was stuck in my thumb haha. go go xacto knife! but, good news my first though was , wheres my phone so i can show people on cmon haha.

i found the perfect thing for preventing this as i always cut towards me with small things so i can handle them.

other than keeping the knie below me and between my legs so it doesn\'t hit me to protect my fingers i use....

I remember little tubes of super glue in our field kits.
Generally we always heard that they had to cut the wounds back open at the hospital anyway to give them a good cleaning out. Then they stitched them up.

gentlemen, fear not, for i am alive! the slice went through my thumb down into the top of my nail, so yeah pretty much put the tip in 2! All taped up tight, stoped bleeding after about 2 hours. Brand new xactos whoohooo!
Though, lesson learned, the flesh is weak, for the emperor!

Yeah, was cleaning orks tonight and drove a bit of the blade into my thumb through the protective layer of superglue. Luckily the GF was there to get the band aids and alcohol.

If I remember correctly, that is what super glue was invented for. Glueing body parts back on. Or something very similar to super glue that super glue derived from. Read that somewhere.

I cut my thumb real bad one time, when I was a wee lad, around 6, with a razor blade, the old kind you don\'t see too much anymore, heavy duty single edge ones. Not too sure what I was thinking, something like \"this isn\'t so sharp!\" as I pushed it down against the tip. Shortly thereafter it hit the bone. It only bled for a couple minutes though, didn\'t even really hurt, it was too fast, which I wont complain about.

QM, I do not believe it was developed for medical use, but combat medics quickly fount that you could close a wound and stop bleeding with it.

I know an eye surgeon that says lots of what they use now is a type of superglue - as you really cannot stitch an eyeball.
