Right then, I better try to raise my game if we're playing with the same beautiful mini from HF. So far I've only really base coated and started on the highlights. Thus far there are very few if any shading added. But I did give him a skin head ;)

nice start. There are going to be a bunch of fine examples of this figure once you guys are all done.

Liking the stubble growth on the head. You guys really appear to be bringing it with this competition. Best of luck and waiting to see how these all turn out.

The way things are going we are going to have barbarians with all different stages of hair growth LOL - Andys is bald, Mega's shaved, mine short crop - so it must go longer and longer LOL

Here's a little more work - just started adding contrast via some shadows. So far I've not touched his legs or forearms. There's still a ways to go with the shading and there's a few areas that need smoothing. Otherwise I'm super happy with him right now :)

Cheers mate, I agree that it needs to have a touch more highlight in places. I'm kind of at the stage on the top half where I'm going back and forward increasing the contrast and smoothing things out.

Just hope I don't have a proper mega blunder!

Are you using the ones from the flesh set or just a selection of Andrea paints?
I have a small selection, namely the silvers, inks, flesh, and black paints. Must say I love them, they're great paints!

So far I've only used the ones from the flesh set (and what a lovely set it is too), in a few steps time I've going to be playing with some temperature changes via the careful use of P3 coal black.

Here's the next stage - started on his lower half, added more shading to the top half, increased some highlights and decreased others. I really need to spend sometime on his back, and back of his legs. Otherwise the top highlight on his abs needs reducing a little and many other areas tidying up. He's coming along though :)

Ah my man it's looking absolutely fan daby dozy!

That's it I'm not painting any more minis that are not a total joy to paint! I refuse to struggle along with meh so so sculpts from now on. This little comp has shown me what a great sculpt can do for your level of perseverance and willingness to push and achieve the best you can.

What's your thoughts on a base?

Nmm or TMM on the sword?
