Much better mate the face looks a lot more feminine now didnt want to say but with the eyes unpainted before it looked a bit like a drag queen on steroids.

Were as now its more a sexy bitch who will chop you up for looking ..or chop you up for not looking if you know what I mean.

A thought crossed my mind earlier today do you think that showing the quantity of wips that I tend to do (more than most) is hurting my chances at winning comps, quite the opposite or neither? What's your feeling about showing comp pieces in general before they've been shown in public?

interesting question sir, but I don't think it drags anything down come competition time. It may even help boost its popularity at the show. Most (all really) that I go to aren't considered competitions but more of a figure show like euromilitaire is (even though medals are awarded). I have been known to keep the last piece I am working on in hiding right before a show for no other reason than for a surprise.

I don't know if it does or doesn't, I do know that I've enjoyed seeing things in real life that I've been following in wips. Mostly I've been blown away have better things look in real life and often how small things are. I guess the only factor that there is by not showing something is that surprise factor you mention. You're constantly surprising me with your wonderful work and the way you keep finding the Milosh's angels minis ;)

Nice paintjob, Lono and infamy miniatures seem to do pretty well. I am still hesitating to buy some of his mini, not being a big fan of steampunk atmosphere. But his mini are so nice..

Then to answer your question, I don't think that it perturbs your results to show a WIP of your work before a competition. It is a good way to get some advice from other members and potentially get better overall results! And I like to follow WIP, so just continue...

Holy crap those are fine details! As to the wip Question... I work in TV - specifically promos so here's my thoughts: How many times have you been sucked in by a good movie trailer or promo for an awful or sometimes good tv show/moive? Think of your wip like that. It's just a cool and different way to promo your minis and maybe give people a bit of a glimpse behind the veil so to speak ;) Nothing wrong with getting your stuff out there - so much the better if you tease them a bit too o_O

i dont think showing wip's affect the chances of winning competitions, at least if the judges are fair and professional. in reality, there is usually differance in seeing a mini irl or on a screen.
perhaps you shouldnt show pictures of using non-gw parts for a golden demon entry though ;)

Ah- Forced perspective. I see what ya did there. For a while I thought she was going to be a giant angel attacking the city...
I've seen stranger stuff on this site before, believe you me. :D
