I just posted a GW Valhallan Autocannon team and did a major snow base. This is the first piece of artillery I have done and would love comments and suggestions from member painters out there! I have a goal of a mini a week this year and I am trying hard to improve so that I can take a shot at the Golden deamon competitions in 2005. I would appreciate any help you can be!:)

looks like snow to me....

Excellent snow effects!! I am overly familiar with snow lately (as about 20 inches have fallen in the last week!!) and I have to work outside in the $#@@$#% stuff! Yours really looks snowy, slushy, and just plain cold.

The people look good. It is a very nice color scheme, and the hat on the commander is excellent, as are his binoculars. A little more highlighting on the skin may help.

The only real (small) complaint I would have is with the metallics. While the dark metal looks incredible on the gun barrel, but the copper or gold color looks....unrealistic in spots.

Same with the silver part of the gun on the commanders back. I can\'t quite put my finger on it, but maybe the metallic paints were too thick on those particular parts. But don\'t change a thing on the main gun barrel. It looks hard and oily, and very realistic.

Excellent work overall. It has a nice gritty militaristic feel.:D

Looks good to me...

As Mr Vike said, the snow is very realistic (I think, as I haven\'t seen any for two decades...;)).
The overall paint job is very good, my only suggestion for improvement involves the magazine. It looks too new and perfect. Generally magazines are worn much more than the gun and show more damage. (This is not true of course in those cases where a new mag has been inserted:D)
If it were mine however, I would try and introduce some variation in the gun by making the mag look well-used. Just my 2ps worth:D

Great and very valid comments guys! I appreciate the help. I am going to make an effort to get a little more military grundge going on in the next one! And I am glad you like the snow, I\'ve been playing with different methods and am starting to like the results.

Supervike, been cold and snowy in Denver lately too, so at least I have reference for snow right outside my windows. And like a crazy man I am flying to Minneapolis next Friday to get a bigger dose. Who gets married in February in the Great White North???

I\'m not going to say what has been already been said by other with the exception that this is a very nice looking piece. The only bit of critism that I would add is with the base. I think that there need to be a little bit more contrast between the rocks and the snow.
