Mephiston - Lord of Death!

Welcome to my latest commission piece.

The brief was 'nmm' style red armour like the blue and gold i've done and a glowing green effect on the plasma pistol and sword like the stuff Dave Neild (ijee) has done.
put on a base inspired by more bits from Dave Neild (ijee).

As usual i pushed this to beyond this basic brief by adding both subtle and blatant freehands on Mephiston himself And stained glassed ruined cathederal style base. This idea came from looking at some awesome Mark Gibbons art from the 2nd ed Angels of death codex and Mephistons personal back banner, given as a gift to him, from the latest Blood Angels Codex.
The base hold one of my favourite 'gimmiks' which is the the handles which you handle the model by so grubby fingers don't touch the models paint job. These handles are diguised as the cableing running through the superstructure of the cathederals foundations.

Any questions? just drop me a line :)

great work , love the blood angels symbol on the back of the cape.

how did you do the stained glass, was the frame filled in or did you have to add the 'glass'?

AMAZING , my favorite miniature painted by one of my favorite painters !
love it
the only thing that Im a little doubtful to is the sword , its is beautifully painted clearly but the green color feels a bit too much on this mini
besides that, THIS is a flawless paintjobb

please tell me how you did turn his head ? and how many hours you put in the actual painting of this masterpiece

(dident see you hade a thred abaut him so sorry for the dubbelpost)

Funny i just said on another site;

"I agree completely in hindsight. i may go back and wash out some of the colours while i still have the piece in hand.
also my light and camera has added brighter yellow into the images at some stage on finer analysis. An improvement to be made i never noticed till you guys flagged it!"

yes i need to look at my pics. i had Skraal (Axel) at my studio today and he had the mini in hand and noticed the difference in vibrancy.
BUT! i did want it glowowowowing!.

To turn his head you two of the model in question. drill the ead out of one without damaging the body. then vice versa.
Next, greenstuff in some new hair and cables.

I also updated his arms, backpack and plasma pistiol to the current BA plastics.

Hey, lovely mephiston, I was actually just wondering what colors you had used on the cream/brown robes. It looks very similar to what I do but not as yellow. I really like it.
