So I have decided to take the plunge off the deep end and start a WIP.
Below find a CCC Incinerator from the MERCS miniatures game line. Please excuse the photo quality I still have not gotten a macro lens for my camera.

All comments are welcomed.

I have chosen to go with a GW Golden Yellow base color for the armor and am using a Warlock Purple color for the shadows. Still pushing and pulling the colors to blend them, before I move on to the Highlights.

Looks like a strong start. How many coats did it take to get that kind of coverage with GW's yellow? I'll be starting these guys in the near future, so I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress with them (they say the best way to learn is from your own mistakes. I prefer to learn from everyone else's =p).

Is that weapon glued on already or just pinned in place? Both the flamer and the heavy weapons guy (I can no longer say that phrase without a russian accent) seem like they'd be tough to paint once you glue on the weapons.

Roughly I have used 3 coats for the base color, and about 7 to 8 coats of very thin paint to keep the blending in line.
I find that thinning your paint a lot will keep all the details, but it will make the process of painting the miniature take a lot longer.
