There are a few articles in the Articles section (fancy that) here on CMoN for metallics.
One of the better ones, in my opinion, is Avicenna\'s Article. He\'s got some step by step photos in addition to good explanations.

I have used some stuff called SNJ. Easy to use and fantastic results.

I suggest you take an NMM tutorial and substitute paints working from something like Tin Bitz to something like Mithryl (I use vallejo silver and then give a white hot spot - gotta keep it small enough not to flatten the shine).
