metalic paint buying

All of my metalic paints have either dried up, or run out and i was wondering what to replace them with, GW or Vallejo as i have heard differnt opinions of both.

i have found them to be hit and miss tbh. i hve some great old citadels and some crap new ones. same with vallejos. if you can, try and buy them in person so you can actually see how fine the metallic pigment is

i have found gw\'s silvers to have finer metal flakes which makes it easier to get a smoother coverage.
vallejo\'s coloured metals seem to have a better coverage.

printers inks are i am reliably told, the mutts nuts, but they are expensive.

Lets just say me and the gw staff have had a few fallings out about that lol, doesnt help that im a cheaky 15yr old and they are 30 yr old painting newbs,

At my local gw we have a few staffers who, lets say only like the game, eg they suck at painting (they told me the best method of painting was drybrushing). They cant take it when i use w and n brushes etc. One time i found a scalple blade on the floor and the guy on the till had a go at me when i asked if i could put it in the bin. Oh yeh and one time i was opening the paint pots before buying as one time i got a dried up one. One of my painting buddies is a part timer now, so its getting better.

I don\'t really like most of the metallics in Vallejo\'s line (can\'t stand the Game Colors at all, some of the Model colors are OK). GW has some nice metallics I use a lot, but my most recent find is Vallejo\'s Model Air line. The metallics in that line are so smooth and the metallics flakes are so fine, they\'re just beautiful. Unfortunately, they\'re gold and bronze colors suck (unless you\'re looking for a very polished bronze anyway), stick with the gun, steel and silver.

I have tried alot of the main miniature painting lines in regards to metallics and my own personal opinions are as follows ..

My favorite paints when it comes to ease of application and smoothness of finish would have to be citadel ....even though I use few other colors of their range. They seem to have very finely ground mica particles in them.
However I absolutely love the VMC bronze and old gold colors, especially when painting aged or old tarnished metals. The mica isn\'t as finely ground and I find that I need to do multiple diluted passes to get a decent finish.
P3 I really am not that keen on but that is personal opinion only.
VMC Bronze mixed with Brass makes a nice paler yellow metal.
