Aha! Seen that - sits there like an oil film. The added dishwashing liquid to the rinsing water breaks the surface tension, which would help prevent this.

Would that have any adverse effects to the paint though if I'm using it to help thin it out?

Not that I've noticed in ten years +.

Commercial acrylic flow improvers, which many people also use, are basically made from a type of detergent. The only real problem is if you add too much (same as with retarder).

If you're using washes you do have to consider not doing this, as sometimes you need the water to have surface tension for specific results.
