Metallics and Inks

I was wondering if anybody had every use a drop of colored ink mixed with metallics (on the pallete not the mini) to give armour a hint of tint and to what level of success?

nope, but you could try glazing metallics with watered down inks for a hue

I\'ve had success with that. In fact, I\'ve mixed in non-metallic paints, particularly greys and blues, with just fine success. Of course, you have to be very careful with adding non-metallics since it\'s easy to wipe out the qualities that make it a metallic.

Inks are easier to work into metallic paints for obvious reasons: they\'re thin with a strong amount of tint, but are not so thick that they will easily rob the metallic paint of its qualities. Glazing is a lot easier, naturally, but you can still achieve some very pleasant results with mixing in ink to begin.

The trick is to stop thinking of metallic paints as something special. For best effect, they have to be shaded and highlighted just like any other colour does.

I used to do this alot

I actually used to make my own version of \"mythrill\" this way
I used to mic, blue, ink ,with mythrill Silve,r it requirted a lot of stirring, and usualy would settle after a few minuteds, but it would create a nice ,blue-tinted almost \"glowing\" effect that i used to use on many of my minis.

Yep, purple, blue, green work well mixed into silver. Not too much, just a hint. Wash down with inks of the same colour and rehighlight.

I almost always put a little blue ink in my silvers. It makes them look more like oiled steel in my opinion.

I mix gunmetal metal with night blue to get great oiled blue steel, then you can highlight up as need be

No but in my early days, when i didn\'t know how to do jewels correctly, I used a mettalic ink to make it look shiney
