Metallics and Sealer problem

Hello,

I\'ve been having a problem with the GW matte sealer totaly killing the metallic shine on my figures.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What do you guys do to keep your metallics from getting dulled? I\'ve been going back over the metal areas again after I\'ve sealed it just to get that shine back but thats a time consuming pain in the rear.

Has anyone used some sort of semi-gloss sealer before? I wouldnt mind trying a semi-gloss. As for a gloss sealer I think thats too shiny for my liking.

Thanks

This could be bad news....

The only way I know to resolve your problem is to Matt seal the mini and then use a gloss sealer and paint it over the parts you want glossy. Time consuming and a pain in the butt!

Semi gloss is kinda eh - stay away from Dullcote though - its the kiss of death for metallics - although I did get some really cool effects from it on some testors paint one time.

You could also do the reverse of this and gloss coat the model and then come back and dullcote just the parts that you do not want to be glossy. I do this occassionally, but mainly for my bases when I\'m using water effects.

Go to your local DIY store and buy a small tin of Acrylic satin varnish (for woodwork or floorboards). Touch up your metalics with this, it tends to need a little thinning. Its bulletproof and gives a nice finish.
